I am going to book a comedy show here in Lodi for the 19th, and as always, bbq and party at casa de Brockman the whole weekend. I have room for about 20 people at my house. We can carpool and shuttle back and forth to TIKI. There is a designated driver service that works for tips in town we can book him to drive us around too, he has a pretty good sized van. Last year was a hit, and I have already prep'd the neighbors for this year. I would like to get a head count of people that will be staying at the house, so when people contact me, I know if I have room for them or not. Pets ok.

I have my kids that weekend, so family friendly gathering, no wildness. Also, planning on going out with the kids to duck hunt, then go fish after morning flight is done. Due to all the people going to be at Tiki, last year it was really foggy, and tough to tell where everyone was, so for safety, we will be hunting off 8 mile rd out of Stockton, then going to Tiki after the morning flight is done, for safety reasons. The hunt will be awesome, youth hunters encouraged, we can pair veterans with new hunters. If you plan on hunting and fishing Tiki, at Tiki, please be careful. Last year I did not raise on a bird until the fog cleared, people were just everywhere. NOt just ncka, but boaters too. I have a lot of PRIME area only reachable by kayak/boat that is well away from all the other guys. Even if you do not crash at my place, and want to hunt that weekend too, then go to Tiki, hit me up, I will let you in on my plan, and area. There is ample for all of us to spread out and have a good safe shoot.

I'd be interested in joining in on a hunt.  I have my own camper and would probably just crash in that though.  I'm old and like my beauty rest!  Ha!

Sounds good guys! Rob, I was thinkin the same, but with the kids, I gotta keep it kinda close. Andy, you are on bro! Skipro3, you are in my friend! If there is anyone that has JR hunters, I will work my tail off to get you onto great hunting on the opener! I believe BigGabe and Ryan may be coming too. I have a stretch in mind that has a chain of tiny islands that are perfect for all of us. Early in the season, you do not need a huge spread of decoys, just a couple will do. I have a dozen, so that could easily do three setups. We might need some people to call, if we end up with a good turnout for family newbies. Iroelikethat will most likely be on quack. lol

Al,
All you really need is some ammo, a little camo of some type, and a little less red on your yak. It's pretty simple if you hang with someone the first few times that already hunts. They/we can show you the basics. Reds ok if were ditching them and hunting on shore though. The delta is tricky in a lot of areas, not much shore to hunt from and private property all over. Try hooking up with Chuck, I think he hunts the bay a lot too.

Al, get hunter safety asap. The rest I will help ya with. I happen to have a tank blind in the best waterfowl hunting in CA, two actually. One in the Butte Sink, one outside Sutter refuge. I have pheasant ground, lots of pheasant ground. I have about 25 thousand acres of dredge tailings to hunt deer, turkey, quail, and ducks. Deer too. Get that HS cert, and I will gladly show you and Sara even too, how to harvest, clean, and cook some amazing high protein dishes with your game!

Str8, you are on! , let's get a head count. As we get closer, I will add details, etc.

I'm right there with you Al. Just bought my shotgun yesterday  and pick it up on 10/06. I need all the help I can get, but I'm ready to go, maybe we can do a noob hookup and have some of the vets show us how its done. :D

Crap!!!!!!! Just added up all the fees, license costs if you have your old license.... 88.50 for duck and Upland bird!!!!!! That doesn't include deer tags @ 29.98 for first tag and 36.98 for the second tag. Ha! everyone wonders why we have rampant poaching in California... We have been priced out of the forest and wetlands... Ammo and license costs aside, I don't like duck meat... :smt012 Rich, am I reading this right? http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/hunting/huntdescrip.html Was thinking about turkey and Pheasant hunting.
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

For turkey and pheasant, you need your hunting license, and an upland game bird stamp. For ducks/geese, you need state AND federal duck stamps. Not a cheap hobby.
