Wanting to buy a Rodsmith Power Wrapper in good working condition.  Since I am not looking to go "production run", I don't want to put out a full retail investment.  If anyone has one they'd like to sell/trade or know of one for sale/trade, please drop me a message.  Don't need one today or tomorrow but keep it in the back of your mind.....  Made a few inshore rods while living in Florida and wrapped by hand.  Want to stup up to a power wrapper.

Thanks!

~Bill

Look in to using sewing machine as your motor.  You will have to make some modifications to it, but it will be a lot cheaper than buying a rod wrapper.

I bought a motor with a rod chuck on eBay for less than $10.  Simply mount it on a chunk of starboard and wire it to a lamp cord.  Works great.

I had made one up out of a bbq roticerie motor.  Worked ok but I would like something with the guides, speed control, etc...  Saw one on C.L. right now but he is asking $20 less than new price.  Not in a huge rush but if one comes available at the right price, I will be interested.

I have spent a great portion of my life making what I needed.  There comes a time when it is nice to just buy rather than re-create/build.  This may be one of those times.  I could fabricate/mill the motor supports, rod supports, etc and use a piece of 80/20, Bosch or Item extrusion for the base but again, it's recreating the wheel a bit for a minimal cost savings.

Just thought I'd bump this back forward again ... still looking for a nice used Power Rod Wrapper by  Rodsmith, Pacific Bay, American Tackle, etc...  Checking C.L. often but they rarely come up for sale.  Don't really want to invest $400+ for a new one so if you have one of know of one for sale, please drop me a line!

Thanks!

Bill

I use my legos for a rod wrapper. But I also have cases of motors, gears, wheels, lego computer etc.

I have considered making something nicer with an Arduino, motor shield and stepper motor, or really any motor 12 volt or less.

The people I know who own with Rodsmith Power Wrappers or similar and would not let them go to save their lives.

I can supply and do the electronics if you can make the supports. For two wrappers of course.

I'd be down to design & have my machine shop fabricate the parts but there comes a time when I need to choose my "battles" with build it vs buy it.  I had hoped to come across someone who has lost interest and is ready to free up space in the home again.  May lean towards build it at some point.  Bosch, 80/20 or Item makes aluminum extrusion that would work great for the base platform.

Ready to order online if nobody local has one for sale.  Rather spend my money with Ncka, or supporter when possible.  One last chance!

Thanks!

Not pulling the trigger on a new one unless absolutely necessary so still looking for gently used.

Pretty cool!  I'd make a dryer that way for sure.
