what do you guys use to keep the P15 front hatch straps from being so noisy while on top of your car roof, I took the yak out and the straps kept slapping against the hatch door, it was pretty annoying. :smt013 Vince :smt001

vince,
Same problem here , but I just tuck em under the tight area of the strap. Made a four hour trip without a noise from the yak.

Mostly, I take the hatch off and clip the straps together. Be aware the wind lift can suck pool noodles out from inside the stern if they are not wedged in tightly, not that I would have any way of knowing that.   On my windsurfer, if I twisted the tie- downstraps a turn they wouldn't hum or slap, it pays not to be overly neat!

Boxo- I tried this but it keeps coming loose and the same problem begins. :smt013

Fuzzy Tom- wouldnt the open hatch catch wind? And another thing, does everyone store pool noddles in their hatch?

I just tuck mine under the tight part of the strap. But, if that doesn't work, you could always tape them to the tight part.

How about a rubber band or black o-ring to hold it to the other part of the strap, like the loop that keeps the loose part of your belt from flapping?  Also the straps are a little long, you can trim them back a bit as well.

I have taped them in the past, but took the tape off when securing stuff on top of the hatch.....  good reason NOT to cut the straps, if you ever want to transport something that way.

(Sometimes I'll put my portable fishfinder on top of the hatch, secured by the back strap.)

Once you cut the straps, you limit that option.

Now, for some reason, I don't hear the annoying noise.
