Headwaters AR Salmon fishing hookup 9-29 pics and report.

Hey guys, I wanted to invite you to a clinic series that is being put on by Headwaters Fishing Team member Adam Koons AKA Aubrun Trout Dude right here at our store in Lodi. We are going to follow this in store talk up with a day of fishing on the American River. Also I just noticed that Ricci (Fishworks) posted a large hookup for Sept 22nd, so there will be two great times to hookup and fish for Salmon on the AR this month. Here are all the details on the event.

Come Join the Headwaters Kayak Shop and Guest Speaker Adam Koons on Wednesday, September 12, at 6:00 PM.

Adam is the newest member of the Headwaters Fishing Team and works for the California Department of Fish and Game. Adam will be going over:

Salmon ID: Chinook and life history and Chinook Behavior
Local Salmon Regs
Salmon fishing techniques
-Methods (trolling, casting, jigging)
-Kayaks/Kayaking gear (anchor systems etc)
-Fishing Gear (rods, line weight, terminal tackle)

This clinic will be followed up with a Fish/Chill on the American River on September 29, 2012

NOTE: Please bring you own Chair, and any snacks that you would like to share.

I'm going to try and attend this Dan, I'm headed out to Rio Vista to do some Salmon fishing this weekend for the first time.

I unfortunately Won't be able to attend the class but will plan on joining in on the FnC on the 29th.

Will the location (with some driving directions, hopefully) and time of the AR hookup be posted in the event that I can't make the seminar on the 12th?

Can't make the clinic but i'll be make the fish and chill. Two weekends in a row of fish and chill sounds awesome

I'm new to kayak fishing and am looking forward to getting some tips on salmon fishing, as well as meeting some NorCal Kayak Anglers.

Did some salmon fishing today out by walnut grove, saw a guy trolling with his kayak for salmon. I didn't have no luck and then went and did some bass fishing that wasn't that great. Just seemed like nothing was biting today. No stripers either.

Hi Bonafide! What kayak were you in? I was up at Walnut Grove from 9-11am, nothing for me either. I got my new Revo out there and didn't have my ff so I was gettin snagged a few times by the bridge, I saw a few guys hookup by the bridge. I don't think I had my gear right, so I gotta try again.

This clinic would be perfect so I'ma try to go after work.

Hey StephL, I was in my buddy's boat. We normally kayak fish a couple miles east of walnut grove for bass but he borrowed his dad's boat to do some salmon fishing. His dad was successful on wednesday, and caught a 8-10 black bass on friday over by wimpys. There was also a lady on a pedal kayak that was talking on her cell phone while trolling. I got snagged over by the bridge, I can't remember if I lost the lure though. There was another guy that was kayak fishing around 6:30-7 that put in at the same spot. One was a sandy color for the 6:30-7 kayaker, and the one a little later was a greenish brown? Was that you StephL? If so that old couple in that boat that was trolling was ridiculous! They must have been trolling at .5 mph, we were behind them at one point until they got snagged and hurried up and passed them. We had to constantly stop and reel our poles in, and then was a couple minutes and then start trolling again.
