Pulled the trigger on a Kokatat Dry Suit last week and it is heaven fishing in...way warmer than I imagined, got tired of being cold and wet all day...

Ended up going to Adventures Edge in Eureka...Mentioned NCKA and got a 10 percent discount!!! they didn't have one in my size in stock but had some one run it down from Arcata and stayed open after hours to sell it to me...was impressed with the service!!!

Yeah way nice thing to have!!! kind of feel silly not getting one sooner...I purchased the under layer that's fleece and both times I've worn that I've gotten way to hot!!!  I can't wait till this fall/winter  when the rain is coming down and it's freaking cold :smt005 :smt044 :smt001

A little spendy but worth every cent!!! Enjoy your new suit RR!!!

Nice sledge. I've been wanting one for awhile. I know I'd fish more and stay out longer if i had one. I'm tired of cold feet and a wet ass haha

I have the Kokatak front entry Gortex with the relieving zipper.  I have been out with it along the SMC about 1/2 doz times this year so far,  never got wet and I ware the long john inner ware that I purchased along with the drysuit.

Last week, I decided to see how it does in the water.  Got off the yak into the ocean, great no leaking, have to relieve some air out.  However, my upper body got cold real quick with water temp around 52 degrees.  I figured I can stay in the water say between 10-15 minutes at most before hyperthermia kicks in.  Not sure what is the best alternative since too many inner layers make me real hot not to mention the rubber neck also very tight.  The only thing I can think of is not to flip the yak in the ocean along the Northern California Coast that water just too cold for an old man like me without any fat :smt005

Nice purchase man. I too love my Kokatat drysuit and I will soon be seeing how their repair service goes. Took a few fish spines in the belly area and will have them patch it to avoid complications.

As far as being cold in the water, yeah you need the under layers. I wear two myself. One thinner polyester layer and a poly fellece layer. I've spent 30-40 min in the water without even a chill but then again that is more like 56-58 degree water. 15min of heavy exercise without under layers in 60 degree and I had the chills for about 15 mins after I got out. If you find yourself getting to hot with the under layers splashing water on the suit or going for a dip is money.

Me too...today went out in just shorts and a tshirt...and was (still) way to hot..........if it came down to it...I think being way to hot with lots of layers against not..............still working it out but to be high and dry HELL YES!!! Life is surely

I Tried mine for the first time monday.  It was pretty sweet.  I got the fat size. Fits me well. Except the lenghts are too much. I got mine from paddle boy he says that they would shorten it for free at the factory. The neck was way too tight for me to be comfotrable so i trimmed a couple rings off. Much better. Use 303 protectant on the rubber. (armorall product ) I would try to not wash it less it gets really smelly.i will watch out for spines thanks for that tip.  Also i will add it was at 4am 59 in monterey.  75 in mountain view. so i basically forgot all other clothing. But i knew i had the suit.  I was wearing only light shorts and shirt and i was freezing. Put the suit and vest on and warmed right up. Then later at1130. It was quite warm. Started to roast  I was ready to be out of that thing. On a shitty day its gonna be real sweet And warm.  i dont plan to dump but if when i do it will be workth the money i think  I have not fully burped it yet but i will next time to test the seals   Im sure its hella fine , Has anyone tried to take one off while in the yak? Ill bet thats hard.  Also it may help to have a large wide mouth maynayse jar.  Just sayin. ;-)
