Please figure out how to post your video

If anybody knows how to get vid from a panasonic camera, avchd to youtube let me know Am loading onto a mac in iMovie

I tried a couple of different things, last one was I picked files that ended .mov, but after waiting through upload got the message that it failed and something about not being an accepted format

The first clip is maybe 2 miles off the south end of Stinson

Fog was rolling in between me and shore as it does sometimes. Compass misbehaved but anyway conditions weren't bad but could tell they were picking up so started the troll downhill toward Muir. There was small swell from at least two directions plus any water you see going left to right is bouncing off shore

Things got more lively as I headed down and by the second clip was too bouncy to pull out the camera

I came in at Muir and was in a sweet spot where swell was passing the point and was a lot more manageable so I could get out the camera without worrying about losing gear if I tumbled.  A hundred yards up a whole different picture

Yep, those are the conditions I would not want to be OTW.  Thanks for sharing the clip.  I believe the actual were worse than what the clip showed. Just too much :smt009

The conditions in those clips are actually pretty good even fishable, this is probably more about getting home in fog

What made me pull out the camera in the first place was that as far as finding your way in the fog there was nothing visually to go on with swell coming from 3 directions plus what was bouncing off the coastline which means anything in the first clip that's going left to right Don't know if that makes sense

Fortunately you can hear shorebreak and cars passing on highway one even a few miles out

Maybe a hundred yards up from where I was sitting in the second clip was a different ball of wax The point at Muir is where conditions lighten up and you can relax

Geography between Stinson and Muir magnifies conditions

Haven't figured out yet how to use the camera and keep myself upright when conditions are exciting When I do I'll post for general entertainment

Yes, find the port when completly white-out was not a good feeling. Had one at Pigeon Point and one at Timber Cove.  I finally got to know how to use my GPS functions that I have with both my VHF and FF.

I went to Google Earth to obtain the port readings and verifed them again while I was on the water.  I also stored a hand held compass inside my PFD.  So, in all, I have both VHF and compass in possession in anyevent I am in the water but nowhere to find my kayak.

As far as the water hitting the shore noise - yes, that's another way, but for sure I don't want to think about getting washed out on the rocks though, that would be a real sad story.
