This is a great thread so here's to keeping it going. On my Dads side we're Scott and a small bit of Native American (don't know the tribe). The family came across the pond in 1736. Fought in every war. Lived in the Carolinas, Virgina, Tennessee, and Texas before ending in Ca. Great grandpa fought in the Civil War and, it appears, to have been in one of the first Ranger company's in Texas. All cool stuff. Still working on the research.
Mom is Swedish with a little italian thrown in. Grandmother Gronlund survived the great SF quake by running outside as the chimney fell cross her bed. (Luckily for me). Grandpa G was the first President of the fresno irrigation district and helped invent the first ditch witch. I was born and raised in the Fresno area and live in the foothills above Clovis today.

WT from way back. Gramps Leroy on my moms side was a tobacco farmer in North Carolina (allegedly related to Andrew Jackson). Grandma from Oregon had 8 kids with like 4 dudes. Batshit crazy. Grandma on my dads side was from Kentucky. She met my grandpa originally from Tennessee who was a Marine at a USO function during WWII somewhere in SoCal. They all ended up spawning in San Francisco where my folks grew up and met. I was a product of their dysfunction.

I'm a mutt, I am half English with the other half being mostly Italian and Portuguese. Son of a construction worker and singer, grandson of a barber and PG&E pole climber, great-grandson of a fallen soldier and trawler fisherman. Moved to the east bay from Redding and I've lived in Newark ever since.
I am Fisher, the fisherman in the black hat.

Meh?   :smt005 Born in the Valley de San Fernando holmes!
Parents are all Arkansas transplants and one from Hope Ark.
Born in the same hospital as Bill Clinton as my Grandmother worked as a nurse
along side Bill Clinton's Mother.
Irish/Scott/Cherokee/Chocktaw.
My Grandmother on Mom's side was called "Foreigner" by family and neighbors because of her darker skin.
She didn't look like her sisters but was a tough lady who gave the greatest hugs I can ever remember.
Great Grandfather choked to death on a fish bone.  No shit.
His brother who then raised my Grandfather owned a Mercantile store and traded with the Indians.
Bullet holes in the ceiling above the cash register were from Bonnie and Clyde's machine guns.
He left it like that for years.
They don't speak about the Confederate years buy I am embarrassed to say that I
remember seeing old pictures of officers in Gray.  :smt009
They furtherest back was a meat perveyor to the Revolutionary Army.
The rest, by boat and creekside get honorable mention.  :smt006

Great thread, so many interesting histories.

My parents immigrated from Denmark to Prince George, BC. Dad via Nova Scotia, mom came a year later through Ellis Island. After a couple years of extremely cold winters in logging camps they moved to WA where I grew up and spent most of my life.

Not much of historical note. My grandfather used to work with dairies in Ukraine formulating feed. One year during (I think) the Bolshevik revolution he was thought to be a German spy and incarcerated in a Russian concentration camp for ~3 years. Both my folks grew up during the German occupation of WWII.

My wife, Devi, is of Indian descent via Fiji. Her grand parents came to Fiji as indentured servants to the sugar trade. Her family immigrated to Seattle when she was 14.

English is a second language for both of us. Though while she still speaks fluent Hindi, and some Tammal, my Danish is all but gone.

I can't tell nationality Heinz 57. But I can tell you WE have a lot of American history. Came to America in 1692. One was Captain directly under George Washington. Hannibal Hamlin was grandmother cousin. He was Lincoln's 1st VP. One member chased Chief Joseph around the pac north west. I think I have mostly German blood. But I consider myself an American. No other culture plain Old American and proud of it.
