I'm curious,in your pursuit of game what's the farthest you ventured out.how many miles do you guys go out chasing fish
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

6 or 7 in Baja...on ur crossing to island Carmen. About 5 here so far.  Given perfect conditions you could probably do 10... albacore....

Agree. The sail in theory gives you more range but if the wind dies down to less than 6kt, you will be peddling. The peddling range of an AI in good conditions is about 7 miles if you are fishing. If you have a PB to support you, you could could go further.

I've found that I can pedal my fully loaded ai in ocean conditions about 3mph and keep my heart rate in the range needed to pedal all day.  It feels like a 3 to 6% grade on my bike. That theoretically means i should be able to go up to about 18 miles offshore, and still be able to make it in a full day of daylight when I am cycling fit.
Its too late in the season this year to get there,  maybe next year. Spend all winter/spring on the bike the shortly after the death ride when the tuna come closer.....

Ahhhh....dreaming is fun
