Need some help info. My lady Robyn has had to start some meds that have made her EXTREMELY sun sensitive. We are trying to find some sunscreen and clothing that can keep her from getting scorched and overheated. We haven't been able to get us both OTW since.  Hell we can't even bank fish together for to long without a good amount of shade. Any incites or "What works for you" would be highly appreciated.

If her meds say keep outta the sun she should or at least ask the Pharmacist.
If it just makes her sensitive you could get her so sun protection clothing

I've been making a point this year to be more careful with my sun exposure.  Did you know Bob Marley died from skin cancer that started on his toe?  Isn't that nuts!?  I think that sunscreens are full of chemicals that probably aren't good for you in the long run, so instead of use them all the time, I cover up.  Also, when sunscreen goes from your hands to your bait, I'm sure the scent of the sunscreen doesn't attract fish.  Here is what I wear when on the water.

Of course I modify it for the weather, but it always is a combination of the above, if not all of it.  Like today for example, I was fishing on a lake without a cloud in the sky in the middle of August, I wore it all.  Its all lightweight and light in color, so I really don't get too hot.

If she hasn't already, she really should talk to her doctor before heading out in the extreme sunlight like we do when we fish.

The only thing i would trust in a sun sensitive medical condition is being fully covered. Gloves, Hat, Face Scarf. I like paddling with gloves I can stick my hand down most fishes mouth without a problem.

I use banana boat sport 50.  Also wear a broad rimmed tilley hat.  They are expensive but stand up to washing like no other hat I have ever had.  My wife Robin likes this so perhaps your wife Robyn will as well.  http://www.rei.com/product/691367/buff-original-buff

I'm pretty fair skin ANSI always come home with a fish tan. Even when I use sun block. My girlfriend made me use one called cetaphil with spf50 and I was otw all day with no clouds in the sky. I didn't even have a sun glass tan. My arms on the other hand where I didn't use it had a gnarly farmers tan. Worth a shot...

For my face, especially nose & cheeks, I use zinc oxide. See link below. For my legs & arms I use Neutragena spray on sunscreen. The spray on really helps so you don't miss any skin.

Depends on your budget.

My Sun Gear
1.  Buff face mask (http://www.planetbuff.com/newest-buff-collection/2012-angler-collection.html?p=2) Rei should carry them
2.  Good polarized sunglass
3.  Hat (if you have item 1 then it doesn't matter what style hat you get besides that straw hats at the flea market)
4.  White or a light long sleeve shirt ( UV protection and SPF are big plus)
5.  Buff Angler Gloves
6.  Thermal cooler to ice the cold drinks

I have a number of shirts simular to this one
  http://www.basspro.com/World-Wide-Sportsman-Morada-Bay-Shirts-for-Men-Long-Sleeve/product/10231446/231245

It's really light weight, dry's very quickly after getting wet, vented, and the arms can roll up.  Big rimmed hat, (I have a hat with a long neck flap also)
I've started to use "Spray on" sun block, same stuff pictured eariler, and up in Az, when the temp outside was 114* F  I didn't burn using the stuff.

I've been using a gel from Burnout this season, and quite like it. The gels or sprays are great for hairlines or beardlines.

I usually wear a wide brimmed "sailmaker's" hat of waxed canvas that has held up really well. Nice wide brim on it.

I noticed that the backs of my hands would get super tanned, so I started wearing paddling gloves last season and I've gone through a couple pairs. They really help reduce the inevitable abrasions & such from hauling yaks around, as well as protect from sun. I'm using a cheap pair from NRS currently, and they work just fine.

Thank you for all the great info and ideas. We will be looking at them all.  We have checked with the Pharm, it's a combo of 2 previous drugs and the new chemo she has started taking. Figuring on a full dress fishing setup.  I'll see if I can find her a bowtie as well. :smt044 Again thanks all.
