Well Nikki and I went to mendo today to try our luck again for linesides.
again we got up there around 8:00 after picking up bait.(need to get there much earlier)
First thing when we arrive we Meet Eric as he is coming back in from a succseful liimit trip :smt001.
He brought in two lovely linesides and then pased on his shad too us.
As We started out across the lake we had to paddle against a pretty stiff wind and some small whitecaps.
Finally after getting to where Eric had mentioned to try, we where drifing around in the wind when our minnows staged an escape....
it seems the minnow I had hooked up for bait jumped out of the water into my wifes lap, at the same time all of the other minnows in the bucket rushed to the same side of the bucket flipping my wife over out of the yak, succssfully dumping the bucket and wining there freedom.
Well... it sounds better than the wind sending me away from my wife causing my line to cross her boat pulling the bait into her gear, Her leaning to far over just as a wave hit and her flipping the boat :smt013.
Any way after she got out of the lake and back in the kayak we fished around for another hour or so using artificials but no joy.
meanwhile the wind started to gust very heavily so we callled it and paddled back across the lake against even stiffer winds.
Well lake mendo 2 us 0 but we will keep at it until we catch some lovely linesides :smt001.
Nice to meet you Eric, thanks for the bait ,see you around the lake .

Too bad your wife took a swim, but I bet now she has more confidence knowing it's a piece of cake to get back in the yak.

Darn those minnows... apparently they're smarter than you'd think.  I guess what happens when a few bad apples (baitshop minnows) influence the decision-making of the good minnows (native lake shad).   :smt005

Glad everyone is OK.  The lake is defiinitely the place to get your practice capsizing out of the way.

Sorry to hear you couldn't coax a bite.

Nice meeting you two and I'm sure we'll see more of eachother this summer.  Thanks for the pic.

No Problem Loch Levan it was pretty funny.
Thanks Rock Hopper, she and I actually have done alot of roll and reboarding drills on the ocean since that is where we usually play,we have been rock codding for two seasons now and cant wait two start the third season.
Funny that we have had more trouble at mendo in two trips than we have had in two years on the ocean.
well it makes for good stories any way and one of these days we might actually catch some stripers :smt001
Eric thanks again for the shad I'll definatly not mix in the bad minnows :evil4:again.
We will definatly be back on the lake again, probably monday if the wind quits

Ahhh...thanks for the heads up. I guess I have a bad habit of assuming that most of the newer folks on the board are new to kayak fishing.

I might see you guys up there on Monday.
