Many animals also carry an anti-venom too.  If you poke the eyeball of the rocksfish and rub the juices on the spot where you were stung it will relieve the pain.

The guys at Noyo harbor said to rubb the bellyo f the fish that stung you on the site of the puncture. That there is something in their secretions that relieves the inflamation.

That's super cool if it works, gonna try it next time I'm unlucky enough to get stuck by one- very uncomfortable.  Thanks for the tip MontanaN8V.

I slipped while cleaning a verm like a month ago, jabbed the dorsal spine into my middle knuckle and it burned so bad I couldn't believe it.

It STILL hurts when I knock on a door.

Same here. I took a black RF spine right into my middle finger knuckle at Albion and it still hurts.

Best remedy for me is direct pressure and two tablets of Ibuprofen aka advil. The pressure reduces the pain for a bit I usually wrap in tape to keep the pressure while I wait for the pain meds to kick in. Ibuprofen is a pain reliever and reduces swelling. if pain is still there after the wound has healed over then you probably have  piece of spine stuck in your hand. Happened to me this Dec while cleaning a china  :smt011 didnt realize the spine was there till month later while traveling in Hong Kong and the spin start to push out of the other side of my hand haha :smt005

I can vouch for the hot water cure.  A good flushing with hot for as long as it still hurts seems to work.
Thanks for the great info.
