Hey all,

Plan on hitting AR @ the Howe Ave launch on the 16th of July for the Salmon opener. Don't know how busy it gets but I plan on being OTW by 630 am. Any takers?

If its anything like last year it's easy.

You will need a kfish number 14 with a sardine wrap, or a Mepps spinner or a blue fox spinner. Both are available at Fishermans warehouse. Number 5 on the Mepps. The big blue foxes. Launch at Howe, drift down to J street bridge which is the 3rd one from the launch. Throw spinners on the way down, troll on the way up. Repeat as desired. Flows are way up right now, around 4000 cfs. Time of day, doesn't seem to matter.

Best of luck everyone.
Matt

I was going to troll spinners... it'll be a good workout, hah.

I will be going next Sat morning as well, the 21st if any of you want to meet up.

Do you cast it when you're drifting down or do you just let the lure drift with the kayak. Also how fast should you be trolling a lure?

I just drift down, aim downstream and cast, let it drop to count of five and reel in slowly. Then on trolling just troll slowly upstream.

Abdiver  I tried those a lot for no success. When I tried roe it was a disaster.

It's a great workout and everyone on that stretch of river is pretty cool.

Upstream is another story. The guides upstream are major jerkoffs to kayak fisherman.
