Looking to pick up a bottle of pro-cure for rock/ling fishing.

I notice there are bait oils and the super gels.  I figure the gels would be less messy and stay on better?  For those that have used both, which would you recommend?

Also, whats a good scent for rocks & lings?  I was thinking maybe herring scent.  Any input is appreciated guys.  Thanks.

I like the Gels a little better because I can see it and replace as needed. Where the oils you cant see when it has weared off. I end up trying to remember to add some every dozen or two drops on slower days on the lower end. Makes a world of different.

The uni-butter is some good looking stuff as well. It needs to be taken out of the container it comes in and put into a some tupperwear. It doesnt come out easy at all. Its a butter no doubt.

Guys swear by both and there is good reason for using scent.

There are some really good scents out there. The Butt juice being a good one and this other that the LMB just love. Its I call it my Bass cocktail...  :smt002 :smt002 :smt002

Thanks for all the input everyone.

Looks like I'll be getting the herring and couple others.

I'm sure it can be used many ways, but where do you guys usually apply the gel to?  The jighead, swimbait, both?

For salmon mooching, this is what I used. I would buy a tray of frozen chovies put 'em on a zip lock and marinate them over night with this stuff. It also helps to use dry ice to keep the chovies in frozen form.

* I also colored my sinkers neon orange and added some silver glitter to it. (the secret is out  :smt045)

I put the gel between the jig head and the forward part of the swimbait.

I prefer gel, mainly for the reasons mentioned above.

Thanks for the help guys.  I picked up a bottle of herring super gel and herring oil...figure I'd use the oil to soak my soft plastics in.  I poured some in a zip bag and tossed some swimbaits and scampi tails in there.

Scents for RF/lings?  Other than tipping with squid, I've never used scents on rf/lings... didn't know others did... although I've used it for halibut.  I guess it would work, just seems like u could save the money and buy squid.  Good luck and hope to see a monster report

Peace!

Squid is messy once it defrosts, you need to cut it up, it changes the profile of your bait, in the case of adding a whole squid it takes more lead to get it down fast.....and in some rare instances gets left somewhere in the hull of the kayak and stinks up the whole neighborhood after sitting in there for a couple days :smt001

I'll take a couple squirts of bottled gel  :smt003

Both have their pros and cons in my opinion, so I've always use both.

It's a good idea to have a rag with you for using the gel, to wipe off lures before storing them, that stuff gets everywhere.
