I started off with the ram mount rocket launchers but after using them for a couple years switched to the scotty ones. The ram mounts are great for gps & ff but I never could get the rod holders to tighten down hard enough to prevent them from moving when I got a fish on. The scotty ones lock in and won't move.

That's good input because I was debating on whether to get a ram mount rod holder, and I have always had good luck with the Scottys.  Plus, I can't say enough about Scottys service.  They called me back after I shot them an email about an oddball configuration I was trying to setup with their rod holders on my yak.  I think we might have a solution.

I mounted my scotty holders in the wells where the rudder up and down controls are. with them tipped up, the rod handles go under my knees when I'm peddling.

Get scotty mounts. You can convert to a RAM with a wedge adapter later if desired. Use flush mounts with the sealed bottom.

I have my scotty rod holder on the left hand side of my Mirage right in front of the cupholder. I have an extension rod so it is out of my way while I peddle. I need to put one on the right, but the handle seems to work fine as pole holder #2.

My first Hobie Revo I had Ram Rod Holders and FF mount.  Current and second Hobie Revo 2 months old, Scotty Rod Holders and Ram for FF.  The Ram's sometimes can't hold the weight of your rod and reel.  I talking w/out a fish on the other end.
