ive been in this country for 33 years, ive had a greencard as long as i can remember.ive been meaning to apply for my citizenship for a while now i just been putting it off year after year.1st came 9-11 and out of amazement it hit me pretty hard.eventhough i wasnt a citizen it struck a nerve feeling anger and hurt at the same time for people i didnt know on the otherside of the country.then when my first girl was born(2-1/2)years ago it really struck me that i had to get it done.even though i wasnt born here america and its way of life is all i know and as i was holding my little girl i realize how lucky i was to be able to live in this great country.to be able to offer her so much.well after a year of running around today i woke up as a immigrant but im going to sleep as a us citizen.GOD BLESS AMERICA
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

CONGRATS. Nice thread to read with all the general "this place sucks" chatter.

I was watching of all things Ted Nugent the other day and he commented.....

"The world may suck but America sucks less". Not quite the same thing but when you look at other places in the world we got it pretty good.

Hell most places would kill to have a tap that you can turn on and get all the fresh clean drinking water you want!

Congratulations!!!  You did the right thing, imo.

I love the diversity here in the US, and the Bay Area in particular, but it seems sorta like cheating to reap the rewards and take advantage of the opportunity without taking that important step and becoming eligible for voting and jury duty and the rest that goes with being a citizen.
