I was curious on how stable is the adventure,ai is without the pontoons.I love to fish but I love to fish for lmb so at times I'll be leaning or standing and so on
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

If you plan on standing, don't buy an Adventure.  Built for speed and distance, not stability.  That said, it's stable, just not for standing.

I can't speak for the AI as I've never ridden one but with the amas, it seems like one would be able too.

If bass fishing is your thing, I'd think the PA would be the yak for you!

I wouldn't even attempt standing an adv/revo... might try it in the outback. For an AI, that amas fold in and you could roll w/just one if you want to be able to stand.

I am with dilbeck if bass fishing is your thing I would look into something smaller. I have the AI and yes you can stand up in it, but it would be a beast to bass fish off of kind of hard to turn its a lot of kayak. To me the 12' PA would be the ultimate bass yak, you can buy a sail for it to :smt007.

How's your balance   :smt044

i've stood up on my A and paddled it SUP style in Big Sur.  But only when FAC glass conditions - not recommended

Martin, when did you pick up an AI?

No standing without at least one pontoon for me, lake or ocean.

With both pontoons on, I've done it in the ocean but no more than 4 ft swells.  If you have the sail mast, you can use it to hold you on to while you take a pee.  :-)

With one pontoon you can do it in a lake and it's a little lighter.  You can add a trampoline on the side of the pontoon to give you more fishing room and probably take some naps while you're waiting for your lmb.  I've seen some AI's from Australia that have added wood like benches instead of the vinyl trampolines across the amas (pontoon holding rig).

You can stand with the Ama's/Outriggers out, but no way would I even try without. If you really want to stand up fish, why not get a kayak that is designed for it?  The do make them, like the Malibu Kayak Stealth 14, SC Raptor or some of the other more complex ones like the Freedom Hawk?

i have the pa 14,ive been entertaining the idea of getting a around yak.i love my pa 14 but in the ocean in the swells it freak me out a little.i think the rudder is to short.i was out in front of point sc a little past the yellow bouy.i was fine until the ocean started rollin.the yak started going side ways as all you ocean yak guys know thats when your gonna roll if you dont get it straight.what happens is when the nose is down in the back lifts up so i think the rudder is not able to turn the yak.and when the nose is up and you get full steering the paddles are having a hard time pulling the yak forward.so lately ive been thinking about getting a second(wttm)for diving.maybe outback or revo but if i can get a all around yak then ill do that

well its sounds like you have the "calm water" boat in the PA. So if you hell bent on another Hobie then the Adventure is a good ocean boat. If you want to have just one boat I'd say the Revo is the better option (salt and fresh)

If you do mostly salt I would say Adventure or Revo
If you do mostly fresh Outback or Revo

50/50-----REVO

This is assuming you want to keep it hobie. Either way add the sailing rudder. It makes a big difference esp at slower speeds

I have an Adventure and use the AMA sidekick kit when I stand and fly fish.  It is extremely stable on lakes and the delta.  You would fall in before the kayak tipped over.  Standing up and sitting down is the toughest part.

The Adventure was designed for speed first stability second. It is not as stable as a T15, P15 or T16.0. It is particularly unstable in short periodicty mixed swell and chop conditions. With one of the Island akas/amas, the Adventure becomes one of the most stable yaks on the water but if you want to stand up and cast, the pro angler would be the yak of choice. The Adventure does not have a flat platform to stand on except for the center hatch area and the that part of the hull does not have internal support so not sure standing on the hatch would be a good idea. You can cast from the trampolines on your knees but casting from the standing position would be challenging. If you have an adventure, don't get the side kicks and sail kit, go all the way and convert to the island.
