Jedmo, Papio was holding the paddle leash, it was 90% submerged from my view, an air pocket kept it up with their help.  Funny part was Papio had given me too crab, so I threw them in the hold, damn things missed their chance to escape.  When the HMB HP pulled the yak up on their boat there they were in the hatch. :smt044

I thought for sure the boat was going to the deep, but it is now washed and clean and put a way, minus a hatch.  I have drill tomorrow in Santa Rosa, so I will try to get by Wind Toys and grab another one.  Yeah I will need to get back in the saddle again soon.  Another lesson in hind sight, I did not have my legs out of the boat for balance, would it have made a difference, maybe.

I would avise go back and look at your pfd, if it is loose tighten up, I had mine up around my neck.  Have to go back and tighten it so it doesn't happen again.

HMB HP was a good group of guys, even gave me a ride to my truck.  They said the three of us were prepared for the worst, they were surprised at how much stuff we had between radios, gps, wet&dry suits, they made positive comments on that.

I'm glad you're ok, Kev. Kudos to Papio3 and Stinkytofu!! Gears can be replaced. Don't feel bad, we've all been there. I, myself had an expensive "yard sale" @ San Pablo Reservoir about a year ago and learned from that experience.

I also would like to add safety-wise to leash the paddle to the yak (to some that still don't). I took a nasty spill @ HMB while riding a wave (safety class) and my paddle wasn't leashed to my yak. I learned that swimming while holding a paddle is almost impossible to do.

When Stinkytofu arried I latch on to his boat as Papio got back in his.  Now i ask call the CG.  That is a conversation in itself I will let Stinkytofo tell you about.  about 10 minutes go by and the Pillar Point Harbor Patrol are on scene and they get me and my boat back to shore!  Well that's the short story.  I am beat right now, fore arms are worn out from the death grip I had Stinky's peddle drive.

Yeah, the conversation with the CG over channel 16 was very interesting.  Had to repeat 4 or 5 times about how many people's in the water, what type of vessel, and color of the boat/yak.  I know I was coming in pretty clear as I can hear myself off of Papio3's radio.  I could only imagin if I was in the water by myself and had to call it in...

No problem brother Squidder!  I'm sure you or any other NCKAer's would have done the same.  Just glad you're ok and that CG was able to salvage your yak.

It's all good Squidder the main thing is you're OK and I know you would have done the same for me and Stinky.

Dude!  You're the man!  Jumped right in the drink without thinking twice to help out a fellow NCKAer!  You should change your call name to "Super Papio3"!

Wow Thank goodness you're OK and kudos to the guys who helped you out.  Earlier this year I got hit by big waves from a big yacht over there.  I was working my pot and he kept going and didn't see me.  I dropped my pot and didn't care if I lost it and quickly pointed my bow towards the on coming waves.  It was a roller coaster but I came out OK.  I got my gear back too.

Ok ok, I have to give this yak one more prop!  If I didn't have this revo, don't know how long it would've taking me to reach them!  But it was a breeze and in no time!  I LOVE THIS YAK!!!!!   Mel, this was your revo my man!

Lesson learned for me...  Always go out with a fellow NCKAer cause you never know what's going to happen out there!  I did over hear the CG on the radio giving all of us a good comment on how well we were prepped with safty gear, but still, you just never know...  I'm just glad everyone is safe and it sure was an adventure!
