Did you debone the carp before smoking? I hear they are loaded with bones. About as bad as shad.

Looks interesting... not sure I could get past my own filters on that one. I had some folks along the Feather River years ago beg for the shad we were C&R. A woman came right back with a plate full of food and to be honest it was good... I guess if you know what to do with it. Just think of all the strange fish we see in fish markets. :smt001

If it tastes the way it looks on the smoker, I'm fine with it :smt003

at the very least I'll bet my animals would love some grilled carp, since both the dog& cat both like any other fish I have fed them. I think my dog especially gets stoked when rockfish season opens.

Halaszli (carp soup) is a national dish of Hungary.  Most families eat it around Christmas.  I wasn't a huge fan, but it beats lutefisk hands down.

Being that my ancestry is from Minnesota by way of Norway, I've heard of tails of Lutefisk since I was old enough to remember.  I'm glad i've never had to try it though  :smt044

No...it did have quite a few little ones...just spit um out.......I filleted it though before smokeing...I'm getting ready to try it again today after being in the fridge overnite...yesterday I did a batch of salmon collars/bellies...it's no comparison to salmon...but it was damn good... :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Sledge, you inspired me to go out and hunt the great slimy Carp.  I took my leftover shoe peg corn from the Salmon Slam Event and hit the side sloughs below Watt and Howe on the American River.  They are all over the place back there but no takers.  Chummed the area pretty good.  I think it might be a night feed though as they all seemed to be suspended versus skimming the bottom looking for food.  Probably would have CPR though as although inspired not ready to put in the effort to cook one up.

Only if it is illegal (that way I have a cool fishing story).  And easy.  And the smell does not last more than two days.  And it's not some trick to make me search all the Hungarian markets in Sac for a "secret" ingredient that really doesn't exist.
