Cool pics Craig. I was watching it through a pin-hole doodad, looked up and noticed this on my fence.

Amazing and beautiful, Alfredo. What was the sunlight being filtered through that created that effect?

Gerry

The sunlight was going through my lattice patio cover. I just happened to be walking back into the house when I noticed it.

arrived back at our kitchen after feeding 5000 people this weekend and there was a solar party going on, totaly forgot about it, got there as it was half way, the bartender at the course is an astronomy doctorate canidate and had all kinds of things for us to view it, and explained the whole leaf shadow thing, was a really cool way to end a week of 16hr days, and the astronomer said the next one will be in 2217, so i am really glad i got to see it, cameron

I remembered an experiment from grade school where we poked a pin hole in a piece of paper and looked at the image of light that came through during a solar eclipse.
How I can remember that yet forget to grab my fishing net out of my vehicle this morning is beyond me.
Notice the two crescent moon looking images in the shadow on my shirt?
I included a hole from a hole punch for scale.
I also took pics of the crescent shapes around the yard.
Pretty cool stuff IMO.

Cool shots of an uncommon occurrence Bros!
Got this while out on the canoe with the fam at the Port of Sac.
Point'n Shoot couldn't stop down far enough, but the refraction happened at the top left.

I was in the backyard grilling and thought "my eyesight is now shot".  :smt044
Luckily while in the frontyard a neighbor told me about the eclipse. Too funny.  :smt005

My Astronomy club (Santa Cruz Astronomy Club) set up between 6-10 scopes out at Santa Cruz Light house (Steamers lane) and had about 500 people show up.  The pictures of the "Cresants" are cool.  In the past, during partial solr eclips, I've notices the ambient sunlight dim noticably and shadows were doubled.

I saw the news that there was going to be an eclipse but forgot about it.  The light really got weird outside and my wife said OMG it is the eclipse!   I grabbed the paper and punched a hole in it and we were able to see it.  I can't stress how weird the light was.  We get big veg fires in our areas that alter the sun and it was similar to that.
