My Hobie Outback is a pig to cartop and needed help the first time so I could figure out how to do it. Found that if I can prop the front onto the trunk, and from there slide it along the rear windshield onto the racks, I'm fine. Same thing with unloading, grab from reaer and slide back along trunk. My civic isn't brand new so i dont worry about a few scratches here and there, as long as it gets the job done.  :smt003

They are heay but having one is great when you have to motivate against the wind.

I can lift mine over my head fairly easy once I get it balanced then I just toss it on top of my truck. Or I can load it from the bed and just slide it on the roof.

If it were just for pleasure I would simply stick with with my Tarpon. It feels like it's painted on the water. Fast. Comfortable.

My Revo feels a little like a stick on the water. It's ok, but I'd prefer a more erect seat position. In general it feels cramped by comparison. I was once stopped dead by a random piece of kelp I didn't see coming. I've had my line tangled on the mirage drive as well. Paddling a Revo is as inelegant an exercise as you can imagine ... again, compared to my tarpon.

All that said, the Revo is just much more effective for fishing for all the reasons others have mentioned, and it *is* a quality boat. My Tarpon has been gathering dust since I got mine.

Ben

I promptly sold my Tarpon after I got a Revo.  Haven't looked back.  Tarpons are heavy (I had the 160).  The bow hatch leaked when there were significant wind waves.  Otherwise, they are pretty nice.  But as stated so many times, a mirage drive is just waaaay too nice for fishing to give up.

I haven't weighed them, but my 160 and the Revo "feel" the same to me when I boost them onto the car-top. Never experienced a leak, even when punching through waves during surf launches (but I did install a strap). I *should* sell my Tarpon ... I just can't  :smt010

I've recently been considering selling my revo. I've had around 5 or 6 guys say they want it. I don't think that would happen in any other boat.

You tell  them Ben.  I love my P-15, but when those 63 year old shoulders start screaming that new Revo 13  looks real good!

just be careful doing that. I dinged my rear spoiler doing that. I just bought a inno kayak lifter so i can lift the kayak on the side of my car then to the top of it. it works very well.

Good point. Hey I just looked it up and it's on sale, not bad. I may look into this, does it work on any type of car rack?

I slide mine up the trunk as well (Older Toyota Camry).  Going to build a short guide to plug into my hitch to prevent it from sliding on the trunk. Other option is to buy a self-adhesive plastic film and covefr the edge of the trunk lid for it to slide on.

We use carpet runners for that. I think they were $10 from bed bath and beyond. 6'x2' piece of carpet, one on the ground to protect the rudder and  boat, the other up the back of the car

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
