Wow, that is a sweet looking ride!  All the PA without the pounds?  Well, still a bit heavy but sounds doable and very comfortable!!!  Do they make a bimini for it???  :smt003

Soooo, hate to stir the pot, but would this "kayak" still be legal for the AOTY competition? :smt002

$2600.00 for a 12 foot plastic peddle boat with a lawn chair on top?   That's insane money for what you get.  :smt011
For me Hobie has way too high an opinion of itself and I think that shows in their pricing.
To each his own though.

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Hobbies are very expensive compared to the traditional yak.I bough a hobie cause I like to throw lures and be on the move.I like having my hands free for a soda or food if I'm traveling to one of my spots.so I paid the extra money for the convince.not everyone needs their hands free all the time so it would seem like paying the high price is insane.I tell you guys this though last time I was out in San Pablo bay I had to pee so I stood up and piss over the side of my yak not many yaks will let you do that :smt044

Stir away!  I'm assuming that you're bringing this up because Hobie describes it as a boat? The eye ball test still says it's a kayak. Plus, unless we're sight fishing or peeing standing up, the PA12 doesn't have much of an advantage over comparable yaks.

We just can't use our sails for some of the events.  :smt002

Daaaaaaaaaammmmmmmm!  Love that seat.  Lots of thought put into it.  Though it would be nice of have a higher back rest and maybe a detachable headrest too.

As for the money aspect... I have an outback which is by no means a cheap kayak, despite being considerably less than the PA.  One of my favorite fishing activities is trolling, and I can't even place a dollar amount on what it is worth to me to have my fishing rod in my hands when I get a take down as opposed to sitting in a rod holder.  Nothing beats the feeling of getting the pole damn near ripped from your hands by a big striper, while toplining a big rapala.  It really just comes down to the type of fishing you want to do.  If you plan on doing any trolling, sans downrigger... it is a hobie or nothing in my book.
