Rockfish anyone? I plan on launching from the beach next to the wharf if conditions look good.

That's a maybe for me. First; weather permitting and second; Storage locker opens at 7am so, that puts me on the water around 9am. In case of unfavorable ocean conditions, i suggest Basalt trash racks. i was there this Saturday and saw NUMEROUS SCHOOLS of Stripers just below the water surface but, no bait balls in site.Hmm. I tried chovies, zoom flukes and a Hopkins...no bites... My last resort was free dive with the bait knife in my mouth. Next trip i plan to expand my arsenal

I'll be at Capitola this Saturday but on a skiff. If the weather conditions look good on Sunday I'll most likely go out on the yak. It would be good if we can get a good group of kayakers out on this one.

I would like to join you guys but I'm a newbie,I'm afraid I might not have the experience for the coast.I have a pa first time I took It out was on Sunday 29 to a lake.the very reason I bought a yak was for rock fishn I think I'll go out to San Pablo bay and get some yak time in the salt.unless you guys think it'll be ok fir a newbie out on the coast
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

U can do it! The PA will give u an advantage in punching thru the surf with more stability. Just don't rush, watch the surf, and time it. If conditions r no good, enjoy the view or consider another launch site.  I've seen it pretty bad @ Cap, and other times very nice.
U can also use the floating dock, but your PA is probably too wide for the ramp maybe.  If conditions are ripe, go for it.

Peace!

I'll be fishing in Capitola both days except that on Saturday I'll be on a skiff.

For Sunday I'm hoping to be on the water by 6:15 - 6:30 (maybe even earlier considering all the traffic near the entrance to the wharf.) Let me know if this works for you guys.

Vince -  I agree with everything Hamachijohn says. Hope to see you out on the water

Thanks guys I'll cruise in San Pablo bay on sat if I get a chance I'll come out on Sunday but I'll be in a skiff cause I think one of my friends wants to come.but he won't get in a yak he'll barely get in a skiff.so if you see a skiff come by to check you guys out don't get mad and start throwing stuff(won't be in throwing distance) it might just be me coming by to say hi and check out you guys and your yaks. :smt003

Gonna come with the kids and rent a skiff to hit some rockies. Is the crabbing any good around santa cruz? Might bring the gear if it is.

Just got back from Capitola. Fished from 6-3 and ended up with a total of 6 rock fish (2 browns/4 coppers) of decent size for 4 guys. It was a pretty slow day for a lot of the boaters who we came into contact with.  :smt009

Ebrew300 do you still plan on fishing at capitola tomorrow?

MontanaN8V,

Crabbing not really worth it... But I was out and about today, and saw a lot of lings coming in. Lots of whale activity too.
