Finally got around to making a furling set up for my Hobie sail kit. Originally I was going to copy Rudy/Halibu77's design but he pulled all his videos from YouTube so I had to make it from memory. Can't wait to give it a "whirl" on the water...

Lookin' good!
Your furling line needs to run through a cleat.
Where's your sheeting (unfurling) line?
That also needs to run through a separate cleat.

I see the line opens the sail. Do you have to manually wrap it back around the mast or is there another line that does that for you?

I don't know the "sailing" terms but,  the simplicity of it all doesn't require a second line as you use the sail line to pull out (unfurl) the sail and the furling line to roll it up. If Rudy's videos were still on YouTube you could get a better idea how it all works. I' try to do a better description later.

yep. only need one line. I have a similar set up on mine except I used one of those plastic "clamps" they use for bimini tops on PB's. Its the perfect diameter for the mast. I do need to get a rounded plug for the bottom so there is less friction or I could just drop a large marble in there to act as a ball bering.

I've used mine and it works. I need to add the rounded plug and shorten the line. but otherwise it works

I think I got it. The video you showed wraps the sail around the mast, right?

Si, the mast (tube) doesn't necessarily spin...the sail wraps around it.  Again, I copied Rudy/Halibu77 design but I may not have it exactly the way he showed in his videos. ChuckE sent me Rudy's new YouTube channel but I deleted it by mistake. Oh well .... trial and error will be half the fun...
