Yikes. You're all lucky you didn't take up my offer. I parked at San Carlos beach. Unloaded ALL my stuff. Got it ALL ready. Wheeled my yak down the stairs and look at the beach and its Maverick Jr. with rocks. I don't understand how it could have been so nasty there but it was. All the rocks are exposed and the tide was moving back and forth like 20 or 30 feet. The only spot that looked clear enough of rocks to launch was near the pier wall so I walked my yak through the breakers a couple times but there was sideways waves off the wall and just big sleepers that would push the waves in to the stairs and it was impassable. I'm pretty angry that I spent all that time preparing and going out and gearing up and having to turn around. I didn't feel like going to another beach beacause I was beat and by the time i was loaded up again it was 9. What a day...

Hopefully this nasty bay will calm down soon! The wind had picked up by 9 AM too so it may have been a good thing I couldn't get out.

Oh and the final kicker is as I was leaving this biologist comes up with notifications that the water is contaminated with bacteria right there and posts them up as I drive away.

Thanks for the report Gato. I really want to go fish/dive for hali's in Monterey on Saturday the 13th; WAF locked in, everything good to go. But it sounds ugly down there. Damn!

Well I'm not saying the waters are ugly. I just happened to pick a beach that was undoable. Lover's point was probably fine. It is really windy every afternoon though so you'd have to make sure you're off the water around noon.

You can do that?  :smt013 :smt013 :smt013
I would have done that if I knew you could. I thought that was like a coast guard ramp or something.
