That thing is bad ass.  I'd love to demo one.  I'm not to sure about its nor-cal ocean ability, but for freshwater, that thing looks rad.  Typical hefty Hobie price tag as well.  But damn, that will give me something to save for.  The darkside is calling me...

To get that thing moving, you would need sail, paddle, mirage drive and a trolling motor.  36" wide,  man that would be a work out for me.

I have had a PA for almost 3 years, and while yes, they are heavy, and yes, they are expensive..........you will forget about all that once you are on the water.  Super stable, easy to pedal, and a place for everything and the kitchen sink  (they are rated to carry 600 pounds).  I pedal for 10 or more miles many trips and not get tired (I am not a spring chicken either).  pedaling a Hobie Mirage drive is effortless and very different from pedaling a bicycle.  Demo one and you may find yourself going to the dark side also!   :smt003
congratulations gino!

This is a good place to ask the question.

When is a "kayak" no longer a "kayak". :smt002
Someone on this site (Sorry don't remember who) once said they consider the PA a "boat" and not a "kayak".   No knock on the PA  (looks awesome) just with peddles, sails, motors and bigger and bigger craft where do you say "kayak" no more?
I mean is a 20 footer with a sail, a motor, batteries, radios, lights, live well, coffee maker, etc.... really still a "kayak"?
Most dictionary definitions include......"propelled with a double bladed paddle"...but not all.  Of course most all also say...."with a cockpit to sit in"....Food for discussion?

It's been discussed before somewhere on the site but not sure where.  Maybe start a new thread?

I think I have mentioned it in the past only because Hobie doesn't call it a kayak. All being said it's bad ass!!!
