Going to try it again, hopefully this wind will back down.  If it doesn't, I may head out to Whiskeytown, Whiskey Creek Arm as it's pretty sheltered from the north winds.

After packing it up on Saturday I drove across the dam, to the right is a nice dirt road that leads right to the waters edge.  Nice easy launch, more secure parking, and no fee to launch.  That's going to be my spot from now on.

Any takers?

Yeah if the wx cooperates I may go :smt002
I always wondered if you could cross the dam and launch over there.
I have paddled over there and fished a few times, lost a huge salmon at the boat there a few years back.
Alot less fishing pressure over there and cuts 20 min off the paddle :smt002
No launch fee Priceless :smt004

Sounds good Tad, we'll keep an eye on things.

Yeah that spot should work pretty well...would make a nice spot for a day fish/chill as well, bring the BBQ, cooler, etc.

I think the earliest you can cross the dam is 7am, make sure to have your drivers license and current tags on your truck, they check all that stuff....a bit of a pain everytime, but it sure keeps the tweakers away!  :smt001

Looks like I'm able to make this one, have to be off the water by 1:30 but that gives me the morning at least. You guys want to meet at Phil's, I need to grab some chovies. Or the dam at 7. Can a 2wd truck make it to the water over there?

Good deal.  2wd is no problem at all.  I still have chovies so I'll probably just meet you up there.  Here's to calm winds and tight lines!  :beer3

I'll be there at 7 Jeff, you can follow me across.  Make sure to have your drivers license and current tags on your truck.  I've been keeping an eye on the webcam's and it's been nearly flat calm all day, lookin' good!

Haven't seen Dave and his salmon-magnets chime in yet, hope you guys can make it!

Jeff, Ben:
Lets meet at the fishermans picnic area lot (just past the centimudi ramp road before the dam Jeff :smt002) 7ish ok?
On my way home from work this afternoon I noticed a fire burning in the Jones Valley area, I don't think it was a prescribed burn. Man fire season is here already :smt010, hope the smoke doesn't hang around tomorrow :smt002

Good luck North Valley Slayers, get you some !!!, wish I could join you but we have a hot project that has to be on the truck by Thurs. 15th, because of the spotted owls nesting season  :smt012

Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

We were thinking to drive up to Lake Almanor and now I am thinking it has been a long week and I really do not want to drive 4 hours round trip to fish for 4-5 hours...see what work does to you :smt012. Our next plan was Whiskeytown and then I just openned this thread. I will ask the boys and see what they want to do. What time does Phil's open to get soem choves? Hope to see you guys soon. :smt006
