always seemed to me that wheeleze carts were kind of like old solid axle toyota trucks...they are either new, in use, or only good for parts.  I wish I had come up with their sand tire design!

I think I paid $120 for my last standard (black knobby tires) cart, and it was a blem @ Kayak Connection so I got some sort of deal on it. That was in maybe 2005?  The cart will pay for itself in the long run, so 10-15% off would be good in my book.

Can't believe the price increase.  I got mine (large wheels) in 2010 at Aquan for $190 less 10% NCKA discount.  Now its $240 msrp.

Chum Chum I have one of those karts and it's pretty nice gets much more use than my Wheeleez but pretty useless in sand easier to just drag the yak.

Chum Chum..
I got that cart at REI too on a clearence price..( i think I paid more)...

Overall not bad for the price.. $50 is tough to beat..especially since REI has a great gurantee.

I almost returned mine...I mean I actually brought them to the store cause  I was kind of pissed that the slip ring fell off and got lost.. I guess my neglect..wasn't sure what that plastic ring was when I saw it on the ground...only later to realize that that ring protected another metal bearing cover ring....
so now my wheels are subject to all sorts of grit/ sand..
But still I didn't want to return it cause it would leave me without a cart.

my plan was to wait for when the Wheeleez went on sale again.. I scoffed at paying $199 but now I am kicking myself as the newer model is jacked up to $240..
My plan then was to wait for REI's next 20% off coupon which may still be a way to go.

Cameron is right..the Seattle sports ones work fine on paved surfaces and packed dirt paths.. but Ft Ross would be tough.. MBK no way...and on Muir beach a couple weeks ago I ended up doing the dead man drag which precipitated this thread.

I tried the cheap route  but sooner or later I fear I will succumb and break down to get a Wheeleez..

So today I went to their store and was going to get one.. I thought they were discounting their carts by 15%..turns out they are only discounting their tires only.. but a guy named Otto offered me the 15% on the whole cart since I had made the trouble to go out to their shop.

I thanked him but declined... I was hoping I cold put their balloon tire on my old Seattle Sport frame.....no go, Not long enough.

The current model is $240 cause they redesigned the axle.. there is an added spar to support more weight..evidently the $199 model was being returned cause the frames were bending due to weight stress.
(never heard so myself)

But this added spar may in fact make it tough for me to get the frame into my fwd hatch.. this is a potential deal killer cause I an not inclined to leave $240 chained up onshore......

So that leaves me back to square one.. I went onto Amazon and found a similar cart with balloon wheels.. Its $107 with free ship / no tax..
I can't tell how big the tires are...and their online chat specialist were of little help..
So I will try them out and if they look flimsy I may consider a return...

but the price is a hell of a lot more  palatable than $240.. I know some guys have complained that the smaller balloon wheels dig into the sand and these may have the same problem...but I got to hope that these will perform better than my Seattle SPorts one.

sorry I don't have the link but go onto Amazon, and look for Harmony Kayak cart.. right now they are discounted to $107.

Can't wait to show Becky this thread.
We were in a kayak shop in North Shore Tahoe in August of '06 as they were getting rid of their kayak suff to make room for ski and snowboard season.
I already had a cart by Primex, much like the ones with the black wheels.
I came across a brand new in the box cart by Wheelez on sale for $129. It was the cart with the big sand wheels.
I was all over it but Becky reminded me I already had a cart. I mean REALLY reminded me....if ya get my drift.
I stuck to my guns and got it anyway.
No regrets whatsoever. I still use the black wheels if I have a pavement walk but for sand nothing beats the large sand wheels.
I have posted this pic before but the comparison never gets old.
Someone a long time ago made a cart using the black wheels. He thought that by doubling the wheels on each side it would help.
It only made it worse as we had that much more weight to carry over the sand.....and it was a looooong walk.
We started carrying his kayak where our two trails meet in the photo.
You can see the obvious difference between the sand wheels path and the path of the black wheels.
At $240 I will have a difficult time leaving mine locked to a pole while I am OTW.

I forget where I was, but it was one of my first kayak fishing adventures. I had to carry my yak from my truck to the launch then shuttle all my gear back an forth. Until then I was too cheap to dish out the $200. The next day I was at Aquan. Wheelez are a must have in my book. Accept no substitutes.
