:smt044 Let's get the place first :smt005 I'm really exited about this too!!!! Poop house barge, built on top of an old tri-hull with a water pump for flushies. The options are limitless :smt044 Like burning man just on an Island :smt044 :smt044 :smt044
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

It's all swamp/marsh. It is just a place to do some primitive camping that is on the water. Not trying to be negative, just realistic.

This is about the most sensible post I'm seeing here and the one in line with what is realistically a possibility for this venture.  To start, partnerships are sticky, there's just no way around that.  It gets increasingly complicated when you start adding stuff like water tanks, house structures, bathrooms, and pumping.  All that is gonna require ongoing maintenance and cash to keep it going.  There's structures all up and down the sloughs and the elements and animals all take its toll on these things, don't keep it up and you're quickly looking at a beat down shack.  Having a resort quality destination would be nice but how pissed are you gonna be when the boys come back in from hunting and slog mud all over the place?  Or you're having a quiet family vacation and I show up with a boat full of friends from lost isle  :smt003

I think having a private resort would be nice but I truly believe the key to this is gonna be simplicty in lieu of a big structured investment.  a dock to park the yaks and boats, a community bbq/chillin area and the option to build our own stilted deck so we have our own space.  I'm really fine if there is no enclosed permamnet structures, I can build myself a roofed area and have canvas walls to tent it up while I'm there.

I just got another boat, gonna knock out some maintenance and rigging this weekend but we can set up something in the coming weeks to check things out if you guys want.

I'll donate sweat equity and contribute funds to building materials for sure!  Just remember some tweaker might burn it all to the ground some day...  I'm in on Art's possy to check out the island.  Gonna have to watch Lost or The Island before going though  :smt044  Anyone able to get the GPS coordinates?

Thats the other half of it.  Most of these places are a ghost town during the week....we can put up all the no trespassing signs we want but that doesn't mean nobody is gonna be using it when we're not there.

See page 2 and the pictures from Google earth... Art you are right. Huge $$$ put out and massive improvements are crazy out in the Pirate zone near Stockton. Portable would be best. Existing structures are the way to go... Go to google earth and look at the Island. Lots of docks all around it.... Some will be repo'd this month and Owner said I/we get first shot at them (even more than one if we/you/I want them... (Art) :smt044

After following this for the past few days it sounds awesome. I think
simplicity in the beginning is a good idea. Don't have much to give financially but would love to help with any physical work and have access to free PVC and irrigation products. Misters for the summer maybe?

Now you want to bring in boats because its gonna be easier???   :smt013

Cool Al....me and weimar will hop in the boat and meet you out there.  With the wind and tides how long you think it'll take you to paddle there?

The original lot that started this all was asking 12K for upgrades and lease rights.  Do we know the range of the initial buy in on any of these? Possible to find out from the owner so we know what we're lookin at?  Lot leases can't be in too high of a demand right now, there should be room to negotiate, especially if teh lots need work.

More info ('cause it's slow at work) paradise point marina Has parking for us but is $$$ to launch and park. Boat pass is $190.00 a year. Sounds like PB traffic in the area might be just plain dangerous on weekends for Kayaks. (he said "Kayaks?! Out here??!!" ) Guess it gets crazy on weekends. Might not want a spot on the island on the open water. Recon trip would be a good Idea. Location, (boat wake) Depth, traffic, and access, (marina launch costs) might figure into decision process for some members...

Currently waiting on a possible pay fees in arrears, and assume lease deal on a Big NICE spread with houses and everything

I'll be PEDDLING there thank you very much... Forget that! MOTHER SHIP with a cabin cruzer :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

If I mothership it out there, do I get to count the fish I catch for AOTY? That brings up a question for another thread, but I will ask here. If I was on a houseboat trip and took my yak, am I able to count my catch? It says no mother shipping in the rules. but if I'm out for a week?

I bet we could get the guy selling on CL to let us camp one weekend to "try it out"  :smt044 I think it would be reasonable for AOTY if it was a location all could access and start from the same spot. Decision/discussion for AOTY thread. Looks like that area could hold some MONSTER black bass though. Dang, now I want to go fishing!!! :smt044
