DF&G should manage Mendo as a warm water fishery and plant Stripers.

This. Anyone who's ever been in the middle of a Mendo striper boil I'm sure will agree.

FYI as I understand it.
The CSBA were the only ones planting the lake with stripers.
The stripers are a non self sustaining fishery.
The last extended drought water levels killed off a lot of the larger fish.
The last Bendo at Mendo paid for the last stocking.
Because of lack of CSBA membership there is no money/no fish....

Is there anything we can we (NCKA) can do about this?  Many of us use the lake and love the striper fishing.  I wonder how much dough they need?

Dave you might get a guess on $$ from the CSBA just the Ukaih Branch closed.
You would likely have to go though the permit process, might be tough putting predators in the RR basin that has Fed protected fish.

The last time I fished Mendo... about a year ago... I was approached by a boat manned by a couple of guys from the Army Corp of Engineers. They talked to me for a bit about my catch and what I did with them. Whether I released or kept the fish. I asked why they stopped stocking the lake with stripers. Their reply... "We" are not allowed to stock this lake with non native fish species. They then mentioned something about steelhead and salmon. But I couldn't wrap my brain around what they were saying at the time. All I could think about is... "But there's a dam there..." I pointed in the direction of the dam and said how are the steelhead and salmon going to get over that thing. They quickly just thanked me for my time and motored off.

Now they want to stock it with trout... yeah... I don't get it. I'd rather they put stipers in there and get it back to where it was just a few years ago. Bring back Bendo at Mendo...

Freddie

If I'm not mistaking, isn't the rainbow trout a non native fish for Ca. Why don't they stock lakes with the cutthroat? Just wondering.

Rainbow trout are native to California.  Most hatchery stocks originated with "redband" rainbows from someplace in the Sierras.  This are fish that are not as highly programmed to go to sea.  Coastal steelhead are also the same species, but a different variant that is more inclined to go to sea.  Redband rainbows have been planted throughout the world.
