Just wondering about the ocean kayak " Drifter".The guy getting me into kayak fishing likes this one best. The main reason he says is width,I have been talking with others and they have started with this model but have moved on to longer skinnier models. He says speed is only slightly slower, since I will mainly fishing the anchorbay/ pt arena coves speed wont be an issue.I may go all over after I start doin this who knows.I like the deal on the oc angler13 trident but it is 3 inches slimmer.Whats the word from the pros

The T-13 will leave your friend far behind. You will get to the fish first and back to the beer first too. The T series will give you the rod pod. the best feature of any SOT in my opinion. You will get the sonar shield too Another awesome feature no one else has.

+ 1 on what Craig said. According to Phil, the drifter is a wet ride.  :smt005

Go with the trident series, you will be happy.  The drifter is very stable but pretty slow.  As said above, it sits low in the water and you may actually be sitting in the water.  In warm water fishing not so bad, but when it is cold, not so good.  Best part of the drifter is that the foot wells can be converted to a live well with some sponges in the scupper holes!

My vote goes to the Drifter. I am 6ft 295 and I love this boats lay out. The scallop foot rest give you the ablity to change your position quikly and not having to adjust a foot peg. The rod pod gave me a cramped fealing, and only exacerbates my walrus in heat look when trying to reboard.
It does sit low in the water, (esp.with my fat ass) but the nerf balls fix that. Their is a speed stability trade -off
