Hey Darius,

Didn't see your name on the list and registration is closed so does that means you're not coming to the GS6?

Registration closed at midnight on tax day which was 4/17/12.  If someone mailed the registration on that day it might take several days for Eric to receive it hence "total anglers still TBD".

Why would they close registration?

It takes a lot of prep work to organize an event of this size,
By closing the registration it allows the organizers time to prep for things and gives them a realistic head count.
If registration were left open till the last minute, there would be no way to get an actual count as many procrastinate till the last minute ... this makes it very difficult to prep for the event.
I'm sure if you missed the registration date (after being posted for 4 months or more) you could still come fish with the group, just wouldn't be an official competitor (couldn't win prizes and would not receive bag).

Just my thoughts, Eric would have the official say ... may want to send him a pm.

Eric's correct.  There are lots of preparations to make and gear to order and pack prior to the tournament.  Scoreboards to prepare too.  Also, I don't want to hold a tournament where people could decide late whether to attend based on water and weather - it's either in or out about a month early.

So I reckon we should all start doing our nightly prayers to Neptune for calm seas and sunny skies?  :smt002

If you have never attended an NCKA tournament, I guess you would have no idea how much work these guys who put them on do.  Having never organized one myself, but attended many, guys like Eric, Yakhopper, Ravensblack, and others work their asses off to make these things happen.  The best thing we can do as participants in these events is to register as early as possible so the organizers can begin getting things done ahead of time.  I know some may not have the cash but those who do would really be helping the Host/organizer by registering as early as possible.
