Christmas came early for Midge, unfortunately there won't be a Christmas for anybody else.  :smt010
Last Friday my dog thought it be a good idea to swallow a 3M scotch pad but apparently 3M pads don't digest very well. It seams they get stuck in the lower intestine.  :smt013
After several days of not eating and throwing up brownish yellow smelly bile, I knew it was time for us to visit the 24hr veterinarian hospital. (Petcare in Santa Rosa)
Well $3100 dollars later 'O' Miss Midge has got 21 bran new staples and a new bill of health. The surgeon said she propably only had another 24hrs left. I guess her intestine almost ruptured which would have been bad.
Fortunitly I have VPI pet insurance on her which should cover some of the cost. $30 a month is well worth it now.
So I was going to buy all you NCKA members a christmas present but now I can't... sorry. You can thank my stupid dog for that. :smt013 :smt005
Watch what you guys leave laying around if you got dogs. You never know.
I hope she shits a golden egg for me...  :smt001
Merry Christmas everybody :smt006

About 6yrs back, my bitch kitty Jasmine was not doing very well, not eating, tender belly, This cat NEVER passed up tuna!  Something was wrong.  GF at the time noticed that bitchy had some silk lace hanging from her puss.  She ate about 2 feet of the stuff!  Off to my local vet hospital we went.  Sure enough she was packed up in the lower intestines, the lace wasn't moving, and as her body tried to pass the lace the intestins had twisted.  Nothing was passing.  She would have used all 9  lives that night had I not taken her in.  Well,   $1200 later and a few days away from home (Paid up front, before surgery) she had a shaved belly, and was home, grumpy, but alive.
Shes worse that a 2 yr old, we have to be diligent with anything that looks like string, she'll eat it.

Ugh, that's tough to swallow  :smt005 (the bill) Reminds me of a thread from way back of things people said their dog ate  :smt044  Everything from tube socks to whole bags of dog food landed them in the ER :smt009  Glad she is doing better, hope she learns something from it too!

Yea, that damn bitch ruined my Christmas, that's for sure. :smt013  Everyone else was already taken care of, but my present was yet to be purchased.  I think all I'm getting for Christmas is one of those staples, whenever they come out.

Like Marcos, I'm waiting for her to shit a golden egg, but I really want it to be diamond encrusted...the sooner the better!!

Ah, poor girl! :smt010 Im glad she's ok, My buddy had bull terrier's and those little devils always got into everything! But a scotch pad :smt009 that's a new one for sure.  Glad she's ok, sorry you had to foot the bill, thank god for pet insurance.  One time my dog ran into a park bench while playing with another dog and the corner of the bench ripped his side open pretty good.  I could see his ribs and gut sack, I was broke and young, and sewed him up with some dental floss and super glue.  I left a little opening for it to puss out and clean itself and he was good as new in a week or two. Its amazing how resilient dogs can be! :smt003

To some folks dogs are just a thing to have around. Some folks dont really give a shit about their dogs. Im so proud of you Marcos for doing right by your pooch. We spent over 5k on Roxy with chemo and some people said we were stupid to do that. I say fuck them. I have a committment to the pets I bring home that goes above some peoples threshold. Money comes and money goes but a good dog that you love with all your heart is worth more than all that shit. My sisters lab swallowed a bunch of dinner napkins after a BBQ= 5k. Then the same dog ate one of my nephews socks for cryin' out loud= another 5K. I dont really like THAT dog that much but they sure do and I respect that. Merry Christmas. Want some swimbaits for Christmas? :smt006

That IS Gnar. What a close call. Worst thing my current dog has eaten would be a piece of old beach seal. You think theur breath is bad normally, ........
I'm happy that all is well with your pooch now.
Craig is right money is just money, it comes & goes. There's always something that makes it seem like there isn't enough., but a good dog is priceless
