yeah I'm thinking bout some nice fluid gbh for those bozos......maybe a new chain for their prop?

If the current law doesn't allow for prosecution with some video as evidence then maybe, in these hard economic times, it's time to toughen up the law.

No, but I remember hearing a lot about an Arima with either a red or brown stripe robbing pots for the last two years. Also, I meant to say "probably the same boat...".

Holy Moly, that is unbelievable. :kungfu :smt067 :smt071 :violent1:

Any reason why they didn't follow those d-bags around and eventually back to the ramp where they could have gotten license plate numbers as well?

Mike is too nice for his own good. Plus, he had gear to work. They can be glad I was not on the boat.

It's sad to see that they have absolutely no remorse about it. I wonder what they teach their children...

Lol, I think my favorite part is how they smiled and explained that they were doing him a favor by only taking rock crab.

There's no legitimate retribution to be had......sinker through the windshield woulda been a nice touch though.

I think kirk notifying everyone by  providing public notice is a reasonable route.  I wonder if I can get in on that pickled herring and beer offer if I come up with a decent flyer.

Sometimes people just need their asses beat. It really is that simple. There is almost nothing worse than a thief.

Shellback, sorry, but your post made me bust a gut laughing (b/c its so true.)   :smt005

WTH is wrong with people stealing crab, and rock crabs at that!  There probably ain't worthwhile civil remedies to pursue, since dungies is only $4.30/lb at Costco, you'd have to be talking a HE-yuge pile of pinchers to justify the cost.  And I can't thinking of a single prosecutor who would bring a case like this to trial, even if the perp were photographed with both hands in the Dali Lama's trap.  So it looks like victims may be stuck with self-help, and that reflects a sad deficiency in the state of the law.

I think Scotts says it best.  Sux, but best babysit (or crabbysit) your traps.

Well that's good, cause I've enjoyed and been entertained by your posts for quite a while now, you've had me rolling with your posts before. At first I felt like a dick for posting that- I'm not a violent person. I was about to go back and edit it, but no, I stand by my statement.
It's such a petty thing, to steal crabs out of traps. If a homeless guy steals food, he doesn't deserve an ass whooping, he deserves pity. If a guy in a boat who has to pay launch fees, gas, registration ect. just to steal crab out of someone else's trap, well that's just F'd. They deserve a punch in the face, especially if there is no consequence from law enforcement for them stealing crabs in the first place. Hey, it's the rules of the open ocean, back in the day they would probably have to walk the plank, or get a hand chopped off.
It's man code actually, you steal from another guy; you get your ass beat. It really is that simple.
