Civilization ends at the waterline. Beyond that, we all enter the food chain, and not always right at the top.

I will be there. I'll try to cook-up something good for the potluck. Maybe a pot of gumbo.  :smt007 :smt007.

I'm in!

If you need anything for the gumbo or whatever dish you are cooking just let me know.

Hey Victor,
I have a lot of people coming over from our Sea Kayaking group. I will be proving Sit on Tops for them to use, but do they need to provide their own traps or will there be some demo's available for use?

Hey Gang,

So far I have a dozen or so non Crabbers that are very interested in coming to the event. Most of them Sea Kayakers who have been on the fence about getting into kayak fishing. Does anyone have any extra traps or a good recommendation on which traps they could get without putting out a ton of money? Maybe we could even do a volume discount and get like 15. Your thoughts are appreciated.

I think the best bang for the buck for someone wanting to crab for the first time are rings!  I've seen them fully rigged except for the bait cage for $15-$20 bucks.  Cheaper than that would be the crab snares, or that crab hawk thingie.  :smt002

+1 on the crab rings, they are easy to use, stack up easy. You have to check them frequently so they keep you occupied. Call and check with fisherman's wharehouse I think they had a deal if you purchased a few.

Don't forget they also need a crab gauge to be legal on the water  :smt002  If I can find my missing ones, i'll have a couple extras to share.

I am hoping that the gauge will come in the goody bag but it would still be wise to get some incase they don't. I have a ring I can bring for someone to use dan.

A friend of mine who does a lot of hand line fishing recommended this trap for those who paddle Sea Kayaks. Seems like a fun way to kill some time? Any thoughts?

The rules and because it is late in the season favors rings IMHO. If you can spend a bit more, you will catch more crabs and lobsters with the promar ambush hoops.
