Will any fish finder work or are there only certain types that are kayak (OK Trident)  compatible ?

Looking at this:   Eagle FishEasy 350C Color Compact Fishfinder
Will it work ?   Anyone ever use one of these ?

Yes, any will work.  :smt002  BUT if you "want" to use the scupper transducer for your Trident, you will want to either fabricate your own way of mounting a transducer or buy the Hummingbird model so you can have your transducer replaced with the scupper mount one.  Otherwise you can use any FF you like, you just have to make a mount, or goop inside the hull, or create a puck to mount it inside with.

Shilo, lots of BlackFriday Sales coming up; I'll post some later.  If you buy a Humminbird, they have a transducer exchange program.  You can send the stock one in for the kayak version.

You also want to consider mounting location.  Our OKs are designed with the hatch for a fishfinder; however, all but the base model are now to fat and you cannot close the lid.  I made my own mount and can move the fishfinder between the hatch and on the deck.

I now have a t13 with a humminbird FF and the transducer made for the yak.  BUT, previous to that one, I had an eagle cuda 240 and was able to use the standard transducer in the same hole,  I just ran some 1/4" bungie material thru the bolt hole on the transducer, then ran both ends of that up thru the transducer scupper and hooked it up tight to one of the pad eyes to snug the transducer up into the recess where the tranducer sits, worked great.

This had the advantage of having the transducer in contact with the water where you get the best sensitivity, the same transducer can be used inside the hull in a donut full of water, or gooped to the inside of the hull but with both of those setups you do loose some sensivity, not allot but some.

Bass Pro Shops is promoting that 350c for $99.99.  Front page of their website.  Color draws a bit more juice versus the B&W.  Not a huge deal but something to think about.

Thats what made me ask.  :)

Thanks for the info everyone.  I'll probably just keep things simple and go hummingbird eventually...not really in a rush for one, just figured for untder a hundred bucks....
Heck never used one yet and done ok...maybe I'll just keep going old school.  lol

Do a search on the Humminbird 570.  I believe I just saw some online sales for $139.00.  I have two of the older 565 units and they have worked perfectly.  I went with the hockey puck on my older P-15, and just epoxied the transducer into my Revo.  My advice is to do the transducer exchange.  I knew I could use the standard transducer in my boat, so I just bought the hockey puck transducer from humminbird for the P-15.

I agree with having FF and GPS together. It is nice to have that way.

Hmmm...so many options !  lol  Thanks for all the great suggestions.   Other than the obvious (ones colorful and ones not), is there any advantage of color over b&w ?
