i read a lot of PG&E lineman die on the job too. I wonder how well there paid.

it's true, I'm pretty sure they are worse than Firefighters in death... In Vancover Island B.C., I got talking to a lineman and they were losing 1 a month.... ouch..

Lineman apprentice is 60/hr. Journeyman is 100/hr, depending on contract. I tested for apprentice, and was one of 300 applicants. There were electrical engineers trying for the job! They are paid well. What it boils down to, is if your field is obsolete, ya have to change and diversify. Right now, Cal/OSHA is hiring. Get in there, take the test and get on the hiring list.

Sitting here while the kids are in hunter safety, Ripon PD is taking apps for entry level officers. Be kinda nice to keep this thread alive and post up good work when we come across openings. Might help one of our brothers/sisters out.

My brother has been a miner in Round Mountain NV for probably 15 years now. Works his ass off. He had to move around a bit early on, but now has settled down...Got a house, a family, a dog. He makes a decent living I'm sure, but $200K? If so, he sure knows how to hide it.

Most dangerous job I had was a seven eleven clerk on the swing and graveyard shift in college.  but for the official list...
