Simply crossing the equator is not enough, there are other 'things' you have to do.... I've got my card.

 

  Norfolk Va. U.S. Navy also, 79-82' aboard U.S.S VIRGINIA CGN-38. OS2 = Fancy letters for Operation Specialist or Radar operator. Used the virginia class NTDS. Also a Shellback.

Those "things" are only to be told during campfire stories now. Haha, crazy shit.

2nd duty-  2nd Div Korea at tongduchon (Indianhead)

Hated every minute of it - also looking back---loved every minute of it

     Army  71 -74   I enlisted  at 17, so I'm not old yet...     Boot camp Ft Ord,,, ( hi Ray  )    Adv. training at Ft Lee VA.     Spent two and a half years in Schweinfurt Germany assigned to the 3/7th  Air Defense Artillery unit. 
 first as a parts inventory clerk.. the last 6 months as an  Ambulance driver.     
   With a whole lotta stuff in between... there's a few campfire stories came out of that trip.

Main duty stations were MCAS El Toro before Clinton tore it down and Camp Kinser, Okinawa
Did a few CAX @ Camp Pendleton and 29 Stumps
MP school with the Army @ Fort McClellan, Alabama (that's where I got my accent)
Got a cool piece of paper thanking me for participating in Nixon's funeral (on my day off). Good 'ol Tricky Dick
