I went out crabbing at half moon bay today and didn't catch anything! I met up w someone and he had caught a couple rock crabs. I had set my traps at the outside of the entrance to the harbor. It was about 200 feet from the jetty. My traps were baited w sardines and squids. Please advise on where to go. Anyone got any coordinates I can have. Thinking about going 11/11 depending on weather.

You want to be over sand head southeast from the entrance and drop away from the wall........and don't drop around the harbor entrance, the floats and trap lines are a safety hazard for boats navigating in and out of the harbor.

Go half mile farther south, fish carcasses and squid inside the Scotty Bait jar works best for me.  I did pretty good last Saturday 11.5.11

Outdoor Pro Shop in Oakland.  Promar 102 Collapsible.  Here's my set up but I see all kinds of variations from pool noodles to cholorox bottles.

We've been hitting Bodega andI've been using a mix of chopped up chicken pieces and chopped up Herring. There both nice and oily and put off a good sent trail.
I found good size frozen Herring for a good price at the Asian markets.
I have also been lining the inside of my bait box with the plastic netting that is used to cover the gutters. It makes the holes in the bait box about 1/4" and the bait lasts all night.
We've been hitting Bodega and limiting out with big keepers within a few hours of setting traps. Sandy bottom, in about 30' of water has been working great up here.
Good luck, catch biguns...
what the heck just bumped my boat?

You've got some good links and info here bro. Listen to it.  Mostly, get further away from the mouth of the harbor. Go down the beach a little ways. I'll hit you up next time I'm headed out. Most likely next Thursday or Friday 17th or 18th if the weather is decent.

Its highly possible I'll be there if weather is good. I've been dying to get some. I'm new to this kayak fishing and crabbing stuff. Are you planning on fishing as well.
