Sup guys! is Doran better than HMB for crabbing??
I've had the same success rate @ both places. On opening weekend, you're gonna catch limits on your first pull @ either location. As the season goes by multiple drops will be necessary.

That's right, and we don't know how this red tide will affect the season either.

Might have to join this or just hit Fort Ross so I can fish and crab. Has anyone fished this section much?  any good structure within a good apddle or is it just halibut or flounder fishing?

I had 5 rings out at last year's opener and found I had little time to fish in between checking traps. Not to mention the amount of boat traffic and lines/buoys out there making it pretty difficult to fish. I am sure there are halis around, the rockwalls look great but usually loaded with shore crabbers.

I will be there on Friday night and camping in 110, I think 9er fan will be in 108, and 106.

Oh wow!! Those are spots down by the jetty. Do you guys have any room for myself and my nine year old daughter? And perhaps others? Are you guys staying sat night also?
sorry Jack I didn't see the post. Unfortunately I'm having family and friends there also, maybe we could plan a hookup later in the season when it's not so nuts out there.

Was just wondering what are the depths like in the Bodega Bay for crabbing?  I'm only setup for 30'-50', since HMB is fairly shallow.  Would that be enough there?

Yeah Al, that should be plenty of line this early in the season. Later in the season, it can pay to go out deeper.

Thanks anyways, 9erfan and vwool. I'll see you out there.

I remember looking at a chart showing the deepest spots around 60'. I think the deepest I've seen was 30' when crabbing.

I'm in.  Day trip only.  Leaving AbChild and AbWoman at home....Ballet is the priority for them.  Bringing AbBrother and AbMom so I'll be looking for a few limits.

Jack what can I bring for the tacos?  Pork shoulder?
