Well it's about that time again. I plan on being at the usual spot. At the doran beach day use area (near the jetty). It will probably be pretty busy out there. I am going to try to get there early and get a picnic table. The main gate is always open but the day use area gate doesn't open til 7am(i think). I will drop pots and cook up some pork tacos for my brethren. After a little soakin', the harvest will begin. :smt001 :smt001

Jack, any word on what effect the red tide is having on the crabs? The water near Bodega did look a lot clearer than up near Fort Ross a couple weeks ago, so wondering if its localized

I don't know about the red tide. I don't think it was very bad down by bodega. I'm guessing it won't have much effect. Mooch, they have some sites that are first come first serve but this is one of the busiest weekends of the year at doran. I suggest you come up early fri a.m. to get a site. Or you can crash at my house in santa rosa. I too would love to camp at doran. I will be busy working during the week but maybe we can get someone to get us a site and we can share the cost with him. Chadrock?

Yeah Sledge, thurs arrival is a real good Idea. You can start soaking your pots anytime. Just can't pull the crabs out til saturday a.m.

If I can swing taking Fri off work I will try to snag a FCFS spot as well. I also have crashing room at the house for any out of towners if camping is booked up, or its pouring.  Definitely will be out there Sat morning. Jack, let me know how I can assist you with the grub.

I'll be there Saturday morning, and also have a room someone can crash out at in Santa Rosa.

I've had the same success rate @ both places. On opening weekend, you're gonna catch limits on your first pull @ either location. As the season goes by multiple drops will be necessary.

Oh wow!! Those are spots down by the jetty. Do you guys have any room for myself and my nine year old daughter? And perhaps others? Are you guys staying sat night also?
