Do you still need a ride for opening day?
Krusty,
Yes I do sir, I can take care of the gas what time you are planning to head there? I also have some bait..if you need need some..Thanks

I am not sure yet. What time is everyone launching?

How much bait do we need? How long do you soak your traps? I bought a few of the blue Promar nylon bait bags from OPS.

If I fill one of these with frozen RF carcasses, will that last the day?

Launching time dont matter, some will be there before sunlight, 3 hrs soaking should be OK besides we can fish the green can while waiting then again depend on the wax..the wind is laying low, since we are going to protected area just outside the jetty we should be fine...

What time do u guys plan on heading out and in... I live in Hayward so I gotta leave at 830 to make it back for work... u guys think its worth going out?

830am? I don't think it's worth the drive out there and back... It won't be bright til about 7am so I imagine that's when they are plaining to head out.

I HIGHLY recomend NOT launching while its dark. Its the opener for everybody and HMB gets HUNDREDS of P/B'ers on the opener. A few of these boats haven't seen water in monthes and are driven by morons ( I said a few). If you do have go; have a good light and when you are heading out stick to the side, even in the harbor. A boat on autopiolet or being driven by a preoccupied person doesn't care whats right or legal, it just runs over and chews shit up!

True dat...be careful out there, keep your head on a swivel. If there's a decent swell, there will be more boats closer to the jetty too, watch out for the crazies...be safe, it's only crab.

I'll probably be in the parking lot near HMBK around 6pm tomorrow. Look for the Black Nissan with the yellow P15. Or if any of you guys get there earlier than me, I'll be looking for you!
I'll be heading out at the first sign of light in the morning.

I'm a bit iffy on the forecast Saturday conditions, so may shoot for Sunday or head up to the Bodega hookup.

Anyone want my camping spot (free) at HMBSP for Friday?  PM me  :smt002

The swell forecast is down to 6' which is doable. A 7AM launch should be safe as far as visibility. Stay to the east side of the harbor entrance since the swell is less. As others have said, probably not a good day for a night launch. Watch out for trap raiders and thieves. Soak times depend on how abundant the crabs are and what type of trap you are using.

I hope you right; NOAA has it looking different. Plus... you really don't want to go out of Pillar Point with South or South West Winds, turns the water into a washing machine....

I have some crab bait (squid and chovies) if anyone needs some...all I ask is a few crabs in return. Unfortunately, I will not paddle out cause my body won't let me for now.
