Had a great trip to Silver King Lodge in Costa Rica shooting my show chasing tarpon. We landed a lot of great fish and just had a fantastic time. Here are a few shots from the trip. We have a lot more photos that we are sitting on as they are up for magazines right now. The video will blow you away.
Chris Lewis with a nice Jumper

Jim with one of the few that was small enough to land solo

Joe Lynberg with a nice size Tarpon getting a landing assist from Jim

Steve Jurries gets a big one to the kayak

Someone asked me if these fish pull hard. The answer is YES

YES

YES

and YES

They also love to jump right next to the kayak. I actually had one jump and land on the forward deck of my boat.

And if the fish are not biting, it's not a bad place for a paddle

Wow! Truly amazing. Thanks for sharing Jim. BTW, what was the average time it took to land one of those tarpon?

The shortest fight was 15 minutes, longest just over an hour. Most of the fish were 45 minutes to an hour.

Those are some really nice pics. Who was the photographer?  Was he shooting from a kayak or a boat? It would be cool to see an article from him on how he took them.

When fishing bait it was often a rather slow pick up, but as soon and they felt the sting of the hook they would go airborn. On lures or when trolling the bait it was a much more violent hit. The water was very silty and you couldn't see more than a couple inches down, so when a fish hit a lure right next to the kayak it was a huge surprise.

Will Richardson is my videographer / photographer, he was shooting from a boat. We caught so many fish we even let him fish on the last day and he hooked two, broke one rod, jumped into a kayak and landed one.
