Went out to some familiar hunting grounds with Porky, a new friend (Jason/Redsok) from NCUWH, and three Watsonville buddies. The plan was for the Watson boyz to fish from above while we chased them down below.

Jason had never shot a fish, and drove all the way down from Sacramento area to get out there and spear one.

He did great and got a mixed stringer of 7 fish!!

 :smt004

Porky had a slow day, but could tell he was happy to be back in the water again.

I got a few rockies, and then found a camo-ed cab and nailed him from above.

 :smt003

My first cab for many, many months!!

 :smt004

Picked up some more rockies, and then while exploring a large boulder at 30 feet, spotted a nice looking Ling at the back of a cave...right when I was about out of breath.  :smt012

Instead of forcing it, I surfaced to catch my breath.

At the surface, I calmed my heart, caught by breath, and adjusted my Ling boner in my wetsuit.

Dove back down (after forgetting to turn the GoPro back on  :smt013) and at the entrance to the cave was met by a Ling swimming right up to me!  :smt007

He for sure was Legal size, but did not look as big as the one I had spotted....I shot him right in the head anyway.

 :smt003

Second speared Ling of the year!!!!  :smt007 :smt004 :smt003 :smt004 :smt007

Strung him up and went back to see if the one I had spotted in the cave was still there....Nope. Either he escaped, or he was the one I shot and he looked bigger than he really was!   :smt005

Went back once more to scope around the boulder and found another nice Cab. Shot him to finish off my RCG limit.

 :smt003

Swam over to the Watson boyz, and saw they had a 23 inch Ling, a 27 inch Ling, 2 17 inch GreenLings, a 19 inch Grassy and a mixed bag of other Rockies!!

Nice job fellas!!!!!

Ran into dpshim who had been nice enough to stoke the boyz with a loaner yak, paddle and rod. Thanks again bro!!

Great day, good friends, tasty haul!

Ling boner satiated as well....for now!!

Nice dude!  I know all about those damned ling-boners.  That's how I got a hole in my last wetsuit...terrible...

Looks tasty Jim. I showed the fish pics to my wife and she agrees we need to try that. Got a favorite recipe you wouldn't mind sharing?
