Total brain fart.... When yo mentioned AI I was thinking PA.....duh.
The AI can be broken down to just an 'A'.. ;-) so you have a lot of flexibility there.
I have both the Adv and Revo. I prefer the feeling of a longer yak but I like the maneuverability of the shorter one, especially in the kelp near the shore break.
I almost bought an AI this year but then I looked at how often I have actually been out this year and asked myself, "Who are you foolin'?". No need to spend the $$ for how few times I have had a chance to get out this year.
If you actually have the access and opportunity to do some sailing, go for it!

Here's a link where that Australian super kayak dude (Yakass) gives a good rundown on the pros/cons of each of the various Hobie fishing kayaks/platforms.

I own the AI and the only negative I've encountered is perhaps the maneuverability factor when operated in kayak mode. I like to fish flooded trees and shoreline wood. Of course, I have to get to those spots across some big open water and that's where the 16 footer shines (open water and speed).

The PA is probably the most comfortable (that seat looks great). The Revo is probably the best compromise with open water capability/portability and speed. The Adventure is designed for the open water and is probably the most offshore of the bunch.

Hi Dilbeck! what about the revo for the salt?

I didn't mention the Revo because I've never been on one.  There are MANY people on the site that use their Revos in the salt and don't think twice and for good reason.

Gino,
Even if it's too late to register, u should be able to fish together and hang out afterwards, right? U just won't be able to win prizes.

2012 Revo's have in-hull floatation and a different steering handle.. that's just about it.  The Revo hauls ass second to the AI.  Hobie's second fasters boat.  Though I must admit, not much room for pimping.

Gino,
You'll be fine with the Revo. You'll enjoy it and keep it but if you're like me, that will be your 2nd kayak second only to ....................................................... the AI.

+1

Of the NCKA bros I've fished with on the OCEAN, or if you look @ all the Hobie's at tournaments, I'd say the Revo's outnumber the adventure 4 to 1, maybe more.  Hell, I've seen more Outbacks on the salt than the Adventures.  Being an Adventure owner and fishing primarily salt, I think it's the best platform.
But for overall versatility, Revo is probably the way to go.

If you will be doing this type of surf launches, its doable with a Revo:

http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,25491.0.html

Just takes practice specially the surf launch and re-entry.  Always take your mirage drives off while in the surf zone. I own both a Revo and Trident 13.  I use the T13 almost always for the salt because of the rod pod.
