My river salmon fishing has been with quickfish ( successfully ) therefore I have no idea on spinners and colors . Gather large Mepps and Blue Foxs , no clue as to weight or color , also , do they need to be barbless or is that just a personal thing ?

Usually use a levelwind with 15 lb . line , thinking that tossing lures from my kayak , a spinning outfit might be a plus . Any ideas on this ? I have my trout rod that I could load up with 10 lb. line and a medium ocean setup with a 7' rod and a Penn 4500ss , don't want to get beat up by using to light of gear .

Thanks , Dan

Usually with Mepps a number 5 has been good or equal blue fox, spoons,etc.. As far as color anything lately has been working. As far as barbless its from Hazel Ave. to the Ancel Hoffman Smud power lines but if you fish down stream (Riverbend, Harrington, Gristmill,Watt, Howe, down to the mouth you can use barbed. I have 15lb main and 20lb leader. I usually use and 8'6" lamiglass steelhead/salmon rod.

I like Mepps Flying C's in chartreuse with a silver or gold blade.  Pen-tac makes some awesome spoons, you'll have to order directly from them.  2/3 oz in genuine silver is the shhhhhhhh..... :smt006
