I have a rare opportunity to present an idea to an investor.  There is a foreign country that i really want to retire in.  the economy is pretty stable, The location is great, and the fishing is untapped.  I have had marlin come up in the wake of ferries that have to be easily 14ft long and in only 60-80 ft of water, tons of skippies and yellow fin that i have seen within 2 miles of the harbor.
As veteran yak fisherman, what would you love to see if you went to a foreign country to fish?  this would be an inshore/offshore operation that would take yakkers out 10-20 miles at max with the majority of the fishing within the first 5 miles from shore.

This is defintely a dream of mine, and if i can get it together and get the funding ( fingers crossed)  this could very well be a new chapter for me.  I am trying to make it an all inclusive meaning roundtrip airfare, lodging, food, soft drinks and really great yaks suited for the challenge. total price: 3k pp based on double occupancy.  The best part, there is NO ONE doin it in that country, not by a longshot, (trust me, i looked)

What would be the things that  you would look for if you were to shell out that kind of cash that would make you feel it was worth it?

For me it all depends on where in Asia this place is.  Some places are not very safe for example.  What do you do with all the fish you catch?  Since you probably cannot take it back here, would you have provisions to have someone cook you several dishes there and give the rest to the needy?

The location is safe and protected, private security is a norm in any location that expats are.  You bring up a valid point about the fish... and meals would be cooked and I'm still working out the particulars for having preped fillets frozen and shipped via DHL stateside.  As a gift ( as well as smart marketing) photos and video collages would be sent via email as well as CD as parting gifts and shown at the farewell dinner on the last night of the stay.  I personally have always returned to a place where the hospitality as well as the fishing were a cut above the rest.  I have a background in marketing and sales, as well as more than a few years in hospitality mangement... that coupled with my biggest pet peeve ( KNOW your job, DO your job) and a penchant for really trying to be better at anything I do the more times i do it.  I really believe that you should only compete against yourself, you will always be evenly matched! :smt001
This is a second attempt at an old business plan, being shy about looking for investor's the last time around cost me big time.
I was composing an all inclusive for Puerto Rico and ther was only one guy that was doing anything worthwhile.  Now, there are about 17 other companies that sprang up, all doing ok, NONE doing it the way I wanted to.  This is a worthwhile endevour, and alot of us here will benefit from it.  trust me.

I'm looking to learn,  and educate myselfona a different aspect of a sport I have loved since I was 5.  I'm not looking for investors, OR problems.  Maybe "trust me" was taken a little too litterally.  The way that I see it, if your going to cater to any group, then its best to see and understand the needs of that group.  I have met lots of fishermen and women who love to fish.  Then again, I have met people who own fishing "poles" and are jerks.
When I was initially formulating this idea (for a different location)  I was thinking what would really make my day if I found and outfitter or guide service that would really make me want to go back again and again.

I picked up alot of good information from this site. For the most part, people seemed pretty friendly and knew what they're doing.  When you stop learning you stop living, so why limit myself to what I can learn here in "Florida".
Plus, I'm more than sure that there are members on this site that would end up close enough to where my proposed site for this project, and I'd happily take a few guys out for a couple of hours in exchange for some honest testimonials.

I'm sorry if I have offended you. I'm just wondering you chose NCKA when there are several kayak fishing sites that are based in Florida (google)

www.floridakayakfishing.com/

www.jaxkayakfishing.com/

www.kayakfishingsarasota.com/

www.evergladeskayakfishing.com/

Anyway, good luck to you and I hope that we here at NCKA can continue helping you out in any way possible.

I dont know if you guys have noticed, (why would you being HERE :)  )  that all the other sites are not NEARLY as well put together, cover as wide a spectrum of topics, or have as many members.  When your shoppin around, you dont settle for the worst you find, you go for the best you can get!  :)

Right you are there.  A quick peek at Alexa page rankings shows NCKA ranks higher in the USA than the likes of texaskayakfisherman.com and kayakfishingstuff.com.  Seriously!!!  :smt003

Vintage 160, would love to chat with you about this.  Will send a PM.

I appreciate the warm welcome.

I am a newbie, but one that is willing to listen and take advice.  Those that listen, think, then speak go alot farther than those that dont.  I try my best not to be the latter...  =)

Good coffee is a must. Use good quality kayaks that are fully outfitted. I also reccomend plenty of on-site activities for wives and children.

BAD Bean Juice :smt011 ... GOOD Bean Juice :smt007
I agree.. I have a more than a few year in my past in hospitality management, and I agree, its the smaller details that tend to shine at just the right times when the overall experience is satisfactory or better. COFFEE is definitely a plus, between the aroma throughout the cabana and starting a great day, as is cofortable beds, immaculately clean rooms and linens and creature comforts. Good call. :smt002
the Yaks and set-up another good point. I will definitely be scouring the different forums till I figure out what would be the ideal set-up.
I've been scouring the internet looking for charts to locate the closest reefs and depressions that hold bait to drop jigs on. I have a few buddies over ther i can ask in regards to this.  Im going to throw up a few photos of a place m thinking of contracting if this actually comes to fruition.
I'm also going to throw up a few screen shots of the website I'm creating for the presentation ( Glad I know how, alleviates some cost, and helps for the visual presentation  :smt001

Went to Fiji few years ago and had similar thoughts in my head...I've been thinking of doing something like what your proposing for years, just recently as of yesterday was conversing with family doing the "facebook" thing :smt005 and was telling my brothers wife that I was really thinking of getting into Guided Kayak fishing trips (see what u did to me PolePole"  :smt002 since I work just to fish... I was telling her the old saying "do what you love and the money will follow" her responce was "do you remember teaching me how to fly fish?" "10 o'clock 2 o'clock" well that was my brother and his wife's first fly fishing experience, he is a guide in the Yosemite area has been for years... She was reminding me of what I love... It's who ya know in life that makes things happen... Her sister/husband are starting a Hunting/fishing guide service on the Kenia in Alaska... and her comment was "wouldn't you like to do it there"  Hell yes!!!!

So I'm going to be phasing into something different in my life and would love to participate in going/doing/testimonial FISHING with your new venture!!!

You wonder why people are drawn to this site...I found it through the members... kept running into them every where I was fishing... and ALL seemed to have similar interests... and over a period of a few years met Bloodbath and many others but Joe was the Catalyst for my joining and it's been a non stop joy ride of adventures and one is just around the corner RBCII and you are welcome to fly out and join in the festivities I'm sure you would have the time of your life...just watch out for Flying Pumpkin Debris!!! We tend to blow a few up!!!  NCKA ROCKS!!!
It's all about Today!!! Because who knows what tomorrow will bring... so Better get OTW n GetSome
