Thats for tossing seatrout out of the mix!

Still a little unclear on the make up of the 10 fish that are allowed to be entered.  Since it is a 2 man team we could have 4 lings.  Could we enter say 4 lings and 6 cabezon, or just one of each species up to ten?

Thanks for doing this.

Great question: Every team is allowed to turn in 10 fish total between the two people. If they catch 20 fish they can turn in there 10 highest rated fish, factoring in points per inch. It doesn't matter how many you turn in of one species as long as all Fish and Game rules and regulations are being followed.

I sent matanaska (Rob) a PM asking him if he already had a partner for the Rockfish Wars.  If he already has a teammate is there someone else who needs a partner?

Team Rancid - Rob that name stinks! :smt044
JK that's cool w/me - sounds like a band name...

Gonna be great to fish the Northern Nor-Cal regions with the nor-nor-cal bros!
Haven't been up there since riding the loaded down bicycle up the coast in 1983!
It was the most beautiful bike tour ever, can't wait to kayak there.

Any intel for the area is welcome BTW! :smt002

Thanks,
Tony - novofish

New developments for TRW1-

Looking for a place to stay:

The Holiday Inn Express in McKinleyville, CA. It's the closest hotel to Trinidad. They are giving us special rates. Normal rates are $140/night. Our rate is $94/night! Their hotel includes a Deluxe Complimentary Breakfast, Indoor pool/Jacuzzi and plenty of safe parking for trailers with kayaks and gear on them. Just say you want the Rockfish Wars rate. I blocked a bunch of rooms. Locals can take advantage of this too. Check out the link:

http://www.arcata-eurekahiexpress.com/

Awards Party:

Also, Holiday Inn Express has was kind enough to donate their "Pacific Room" for the awards ceremony after the tournament. We will shoot to have the Awards party around 5:00pm. That will allow everyone to wash up and look fresh. There will be appetizers, beer and soda for everyone. That should wrap up around 7ish and then people are free to do what they want to due for Halloween weekend. Arcata has lots of restaurants, live music, etc

The fish are definitely snapping.  I caught 5 good size blacks and lost a lingzilla that had to be 30+ lbs.  If it wasnt a ling then maybe it was a leopard shark.  It fought like a ling except for one of the tugs was extremely hard.  It broke the leader off about halfway up in 80ft in front of Flat iron rock.  No lings for me today.  The wind was blowing pretty good and the drift was fast.  I launched at 2:00 & landed just before dark.

Is anybody else doing their homework.  I have too many good spots marked from Bird rock to past Flatiron.  We will be turning in all ten if we can get out there.  No blacks under 18" & lings 30" or better is what we will be turning in as well as greenlings with my special bait (don't tell em Eric)  :smt002.  A hint: they can be found at low tide and I have almostOut always catch greenlings with this special bait  even when its rough and the water looks like chocolate milk.
