Hello All,

I just recently purchased a WS Tarpon 160 (The old dual hatch version) and have heard a lot of great things written about this yak.  i have seen a few guys on this forum that had a few that looked really sweet!!! :smt001
As far as I can see, there are alot of really smart and innovative people on this particular site compared to others that I have seen. That being said, I'm on a quest to build a super yak to be proud of and want to document it step by step so i can be proud of the before and after. ( I'm more than sure you guys know what I mean.)  I am open to all suggestions that would make every outing that much more enjoyable, any ideas that you provide that would make my trips more comfortable i will be in a debt of gratitude.
My biggest quest to date is looking for the hatchwell inserts that seem to be like the "holy Grail" for my 160.  people have heard of them, seen them, but don't know where to get them from... ( seems they were a limited production item)  If anybody knows where to get one or has one available for sale, if its a reasonable price, I'm game.

What I'd love help with, is a cool

The holy grail you say.....
I have one stored away, I think both eric b and racin rob might have one as well.

Im not sold on the dual hatch as a fishing kayak, without the tankwell insert its functionality suffers. Paddles like a missile though.

The only rigging my boat has is a bow line and two scotty mounts behind the seat.  Its not the most exciting yak out there.

Surprised you remember I have one. I do not want to part with it. It is harder to make this yak a fine fishing machine, but it can be done. I caught a lot of fish out of it, but it is now my wife's yak. She really does not fish much, and loves he rudder. I've posted pics before I think. I will post what I have again soon. If you plan on fishing the ocean I would not use the insert. It will probably sink your yak.

Thanks for the replies guys,
The insert would be for me paddling around Merrit Island / Intercoastal waterway/ mosquito lagoon.  These are all within spitting distance of the launchpads for the space shuttle.   Tons of Speckled sea trout, redfish, tarpon, snook, black drum etc. the majority of this area stays pretty shallow about waits deep to about 7-8 feet with large areas of deeper water and grass flats.  I wanted the insert so that i could keep a wider variety of gear closer to me for access and not have to keep open the hatch when i wanted something. as far as going on the ocean, I thought about that and wondered of there was a was of using some kind of gasket to create a solid seal ( i know that is still alot of water if it fills up)  I definitely appreciate the advice, I am 100% novice and taking the yak out for the first time ever and im super stoked about it.  Had been using an inflatable to get me into the areas I could wade and stalk reds so I'm still at work here thursday (physically) but my mind is already at the water on sat!  lol  do you know if anyone would be willing to sell me the single insert that i need??
