I think I'm just too stone aged Chuck :smt001, I've used it quite a bit a while back, still have it on a few reels but still prefer mono in 99% of my fishing.

art, you are a more-or-less youngster, but you been fishing so long it practically makes you an old timer!

I don't think it ulimately matters that much but we are all forced to make the choice so it's
fun to talk about.

ChuckE, I can't find a weight for that daiwa. How many oz's?
The Daiwa Sealine X SLX-20SHA is only 16 oz.  ... which is lighter and narrower than the Penn 525 (18 oz).  The narrower spool should make casting and guiding line on the spool easier.

I have an older Sealine X 40.  It does cast nice, but it feels "unbalanced" to me.  The large gearing on one side and the handle that sticks out a bit are probably the culprit.  Is it the same on the 20's???

Go gettem in Baja Chuck!  I was all set to hit the Ranch in early May, but had to cancel that part of the trip due to unforseen issues.   :smt013  I'll still hit CSL for a couple days as I couldn't back out of the wedding that we needed to go to.

Thanks Allen.  I counting down the days to Baja.

I haven't had that balance issue with the 20's but that's probably because they're very compact and narrow compared to the 40.

John, I think would be happy with any of the reels you're considering.  They all look like excellent choices.
