Has this been discussed? If there was such a thing I know I would definitely shell out for such a read each month....
I don't have anything against the other kayak fishing magazines but it would be great to see one about water systems we can fish within at least a days drive.

Are you guys secretly developing this?

Anyone else be interested in reading this? Field n Stream is great but i only find one to three things in the whole mag anymore which have to do with my fishing areas and fish I catch.

Matt

Tell you guys why....
Mostly because most of us on this page care about our future fishery.
We follow all the laws and do not poach, leave a minimal carbon stamp...etc...

We do what we would love all people to do. We don't overfishing, we have good safe fun, and also from a business point of view from the owners of NCKA it means increased revenue from adds.
Most of you on this page would give ten to twenty bucks in a minute for a HOW...hero on the water...or the PIF...Pay it Forward....
Add a magazine in there with ten thousand prints, you go from 2k members to a possible 12k members which would help that much more.

Not to mention, there are a ton of talented fisherman on this site that could contribute to this...

Seems like a no brainer to me....

I use an IPad that likes to correct my spelling so I apologize ahead of time for any discrepancies.

Its an interesting idea but I gotta agree with the others.....anything we print would have likely already been posted.  I use to subscribe to a couple different publications and they've become pretty obsolete.  I don't really read kayakangler mag either, any stories that apply to usare generally stale by the time it gets there and the other stuff....meh.

The idea does have potential though, although im not big on the guided tour map come fish here stuff, I do think that we can refresh the articles/tutorials monthly.  Save trip reports for the front page instead of posting, preparing for the fall season, how to's etc...

It might seem like a no-brainer but it wouldn't be as simple as it sounds; there really are no "owners" and the moderators & administrators volunteer their time & services to keep the site up & running as is. A magazine would add a whole other dimension and complications.

Not to say it's a bad idea or wouldn't work but you would probably have to develop it, which includes working out details with admin.

It's the Facebook age - a "periodical" only lasts about 16 hours at this point.  We have really nice, current reports here - it's even odd when someone posts a two day old report.  That's good.  An extension of NCKA in a publication would be cool, but what we have now is way cooler.

We should probably find the guy with the most fishing reports and give him a million bucks.   :smt004

I think it would be kinda cool to have a NCKA "yearbook" of sorts. With the most gripping stories, biggest catches, best photos, and tournament results of the year. Yes, all of that is "at our fingertips" but after a couple years it all gets buried pretty deep. Some of our "older anglers" can't remember what they caught this morning.  :smt005
An annual magazine would be pretty cool to remember good year's past. jim

Well, I have learned a ton from this page in the past, and enjoy every picture I see on it.
I also go to a variety of magazine stores each month to spend my 16-20 bucks on 2-3 fishing mags.

I am sure I am not the only one who does this. It looks like there are a few contributors who could post some SICK pictures of catches, or spears.....what do you spear fisherman call them?   If there were half a magazine worth of pics and articles I am sure the other half could be filled with Paying sponsors.....

As it was stated it would not be thAt easy, yeah, I agree...

But..... To have a printed version of a magazine showing a sport you have helped grow and support in your hands and in print!!  Come on! That's old school awesome!

Hey if its a pipe dream thanks for the time.....

If not and someone does this, I will be a paid subscriber, and would gladly send you pics and write ups for you to use or throw Away.....

And the legal issues I have no idea about. It's just that I read this webpages everyday, sometimes 6 times a day..... Who knows....

Aaron,  actually there is an owner.  Me!

Instead of a mag, I'd rather put articles up on the front page and keep some good content up there.   Maybe freshen it up once a quarter, like a magazine release.  The problem is it takes contributors.  So if you want to get "published" on the front page, please talk to me about your ideas and we can see what happens.

Please note that this takes a lot of time and effort (and a printed mag would take even more!), so set your expectations low on this and we'll see what can be built up over time.

I think a nice printable monthly single page news letter would be good, but it would also work good on the front page.

I would like to see some kind of tournament/gathering dates at a glance. More then a few weeks out. That along with relevant openers/closures. It seems that there is so much stuff going on its hard to keep up to plan accordingly.

There's a calendar link at the top of the page that has pertinent dates including tourneys and openers/closures.  I believe its user updated so anyone who's hosting a tourney can add it in there.

Its nice, however you have to scroll through every month for one or two important dates.
